What if the GAA became franchised?

Cumah!

Had an interesting late night chat with a few friends recently, it may have been the wisdom of the drink, but we got on to the topic of what a County's GAA team would be called if the GAA sold out and became franchised, American NFL style! In what turned out to be quite a funny conversation, some sensible and some rude names came up...some have names simply because their County name lends to it, others because of things in their County e.g. we have the Fermanagh Lakers.

Would be interested to hear anyone's alternatives?..

First of all i must have had a humour bypass because i didnt find that funny in the slightest   ::)

Second
If the GAA were to become franchised and professional.
There wouldnt be 32 teams in it, There would be 16-20 at most

counties like Cavan,Monaghan,Fermanagh etc would be combined into one "Franchise"
Two Dublin teams, one Northside 1 and one Southside 1.

about what?

Cumah!

Jesus Christ man its a joke! Are you actually being serious? Picking up on the point that Cavan Fermanagh and Monaghan would merge but being fine with the fact that one team are called the Down Syndromes, accompanied by the Antrim Jobs and the Mayo Neighs?

You clearly have had a humour bypass, you are entitled to think it isnt funny but its clearly all a joke, it wasnt actually a proposition!

his holiness nb

its actually an interesting topic, "If the GAA ever did become Professional" what format would it take.

Cumah!

Thats fair enough, just I wanted to have a thread where there are no arguments or any serious discussions about the potential for the GAA to become professional, just for some amusement to see if others could come up with better names or even just funny ones.

My personal favourite is the Mayo Neighs, although the subtlety of Cavan Cattle is brilliant..

maybe it the"Cavan Cattle" name that made me sour  ;)
ive actually read the thread properly and there are some funny names to be honest.
im sure someone will come on all offended over "Down Syndrome" sometime soon.

Cumah!

Yeah i was wary of the Down Syndromes one, was nearly not going to put it in but then i thought, the majority of people will see that it is a joke and take no offence, anyone who does i will defend it! was disappointed i had to settle for Sligo Fuckurselves, maybe their nickname could be the inbreds..

Any Sligo ones, there is no cynicism behind that, just trying for funny names..
