I generally get a good competitive deal from these lads

But be sure to talk to trailfinders etc. also - the old adage of shopping around for the best deal is never so true when flying long haul

there's a few sites you could check through which include:

Expedia

travelocity

kayak

ebookers

opodo

most of these are screen scrapers, if u try them all you're bound to come up with some sort of deal.  they all deal with the long haul flights but you could also check the airlines themselves.  Cathay pacific are quite reasonable for flying to Oz as are the obvious quantas.  Singapore airlines can be expensive but it doesn't hurt to check them out.

Check out BA as well - I got return flights (going the other way mind you) last March for the equivalent of 500 Sterling, Sydney-Heathrow.

Anybody know anything about that 'round the world' ticket you can get - do you have to use your flights within a certain time period or can you spend as long as you want in one place and head off when you want. Dont know whether to just get ticket to oz and take it from ther or get one of those tickets that gives you the option to head off to fiji, america, etc.

Booked one with Trailfinders, was a One world ticket too, def reccomend it.

If your going to Oz and want to stop more than once, you may as well get a RTW ticket and stop in a few places.

Usually the rules are you can travel up to 27,000miles stop around 6 times, so long as you keep going in one direction, ie east-west or west-east.

Stop in bangkok on the way out and stop La, Hawaii, Hong kong etc on the way back.

Cost me £1,200 odd, but  paid premium for flying at start of Jan, so you could get it cheaper.
