15 k  Stg  is about right. However this takes in account everything.

I know my own wedding paid for itself with a nice wee lump sum left over. The same applies to my friends who have got married in the last 5 years.

Oh it's a business opportunity? I see.

Who said anything about a business oppurtunity. I made a matter of fact remark that agreed with a previous statement of another poster.

Dont  always try to be the smart arse pints !!

I just think it's a little off to be discussing making a profit from your wedding.  I've always wondered why anyone would want two or three hundred people at their wedding and would have a sneaky suspicion that in a lot of cases people are invited for their present and I think you've confirmed it for me.

Maybe I'm just romantic!

thats the way of the world pog
maybe if you ever get around to spending that confirmation money and buying her an engagement ring will you realise the capitalism and commercialism surrounding weddings, plus the show you are 'expected' to put on, with one wedding trying to out do the other.
its a load of sihte , but you try rationalising that with 95% of the women out there !
:D

ones with way too much money/disposable income it seems !

as you have not reached that point yet, I dnt think you can really understand...maybe your missus wouldnt ask or feel compelled to join in with the rest of these tit for tat my wedding is better than yours type of thing. Ours was actually less exp than a lot we went to around the time, spent the money more on the honeymoon which was fine by me!

My wedding paid for itself. I guess that some people like minded to pints, and ill be honest - myself, wouldnt have wanted to be invited if they thought they were just there to help pay for it.

However the thought of running away and just having a quiet meal with some friends and family - like the next one, wouldnt have sat well with the immediate family.

It's not people with too much money, everyone is at it now.  Almost all weddings have 200-300 and anyone I know with these types of weddings (recently) have two or three hundred thousand pound mortgages on top of it and all of them are in medicore jobs (same as myself).  I don't see the sense with it.

No point blaming the women either, what sort of men are you and my woman knows not to mention a wedding never mind one costing that amount of money!
