I was just thinking, When wood is burnt leaving only ash. What is the ash made off? I used to think it was carbon but that burns. Any one got any ideas?

not all carbon burns- diamonds etc

I just wonder when someone is cremated how much of the ashes is actually them.

I once tried carbon dating. They were all dogs though.
