QuotePairc Esler is the only ground in the north suitable for holding a NI international.

What about Windsor Park?

Windsor isn't fit to hold a carboot sale anymore - fails health and safety!
Does it? It seemed ok last week!!!

On the topic, it can't happen (even if the GAA would allow it). Internationals have to be all-seater and Pairc Esler is terraced on 3 sides.

Oh right, so FIFA/UEFA haven't told youse that Windsor doesn't meet standards or safety requirements, and they haven't told youse to upgrade or move??
Tbc....

No

Could it be that Fifa/Uefa did say "upgrade or move on" but Sammy took the opposite meaning from it?

He does that  ;)

FIFA have given WP a full licence and it is up to scratch for internationals. WP has many, many problems but a FIFA licence isn't one of them.

Howard Wells is in dispute with Linfield, about the on-going contract and keeps spouting shite, to try and force Linfield's hand. Unfortunately Linfield hold all the aces and keep calling his bluff. If you believed Hard we played are last game at WP, before Christmas and will never be back............err except we managed to play last week and will be playing again in March.

Railway Stand at Windsor closed

A smoking ban comes into effect for the game against Sweden
The Railway Stand at Windsor Park has been closed down after being deemed unfit for use by Fire Authority and Health and Safety officials. The structure, which held a few hundred people, will now not be occupied during Northern Ireland international matches.

The move comes amid fears that the stadium may not be passed for use after this month's home game against Sweden.

The South Stand was recently deemed a fire risk and the North Stand has suffered roof structural damage.

Smoking has been banned in Windsor Park stands for all future international games.

The Railway Stand is closed for internationals (and has been for a while) the rest of the ground is open as usual and has passed all the necessary certificates. As I said you don't want to go believing everything that Hard Wells says.

Given the crowds NI draw, surely the three sides of terrace at Pairc Esler wouldnt be an issue, they would probably all fit in the one side with the seats  ;)

Unfortunately not. The RoI are only allowed temp seating as they already have an agreement and a new stadium under development. FIFA haven't allowed any new requests for a while.

Depends on the seats.  The "temporary" seats in Croker are certified as equivalent to permament as defined by FIFA.  The Hill 16 terrraces is specially designed for them.   The exemption you refer to was for Lansdowne Road.

Just like the provision for underground heating and floodlighting:  we maybe bigots but we are far-sighted bigots!

Didn't know that, I knew they had the exemption for LR and presumed it was carried across.

UEFA/FIFA ground requirements are getting ever more strict. Windsor doesn't even come close to the latest standards. Afaik, it is presently authorised for matches only due to a combination of a reduced, non-standing capacity (with terracing, Railway Stand etc, you could get 20k in) and a temporary dispensation whilst plans for a new ground are being pursued.

Even then, they recently had to make improvements for facilities for Officials, Drug Testing etc and whilst it no doubt suits Wells to scare-monger in his dispute with LFC, sooner or later UEFA/FIFA will get fed up waiting for concrete new stadium plans to materialise and require the closure of the South Stand, thereby reducing capacity to a barely feasible 9,000.

Meanwhile, though I've never been to Pairc Esler, I would stake my mortgage on it not even coming close to obtaining a License from UEFA/FIFA as a new international soccer stadium, even temporarily (no harm to the owners). So never mind all the other obstacles, this whole debate is utterly pointless on that score alone.

Well, if Windsor does close temporarily for construction work, where then? just for the sake of debate.
It won't be the next manager but the one after that Meath will become competitive again - MO'D 2016

Fcuk knows, that's one of the many issues that the IFA have failed/refused to address. The two options would presumably be develop a bit at a time (replace the Railway stand, then move the South Stand ticket holders into the new stand and rebuild the South Stand) or move over the water, temporarily, to somewhere like Swansea

Healy Park, after all it's named after NI's top International goal scorer ;)
