Maybe its because I'm old school but I attach extreme importance to the Carling Cup Final and indeed to Thursday's UEFA game as well. No reason why both shouldn't be aimed for especially now that there's a bit of daylight between ourselves and the relegation zone. Particularly would like to see progress made in the UEFA Cup, for nostalgic reasons alone, I still remember the joy of beating Anderlecht on penalties in 1984 and the two legged win over Wolves in the final in 1972.

Oh well, it was inevitable really. Onward to Sunday, pure underdogs for it but maybe it could be a repeat of last year. Maybe. :-\

Disappointing that so many clubs from the 'bigger' leagues seem not bothered with the UEFA cup anymore. Along with Spurs - Milan, Fiorentina, Deportivo, Villa, Sampdoria and Valencia from Europe's big three leagues all knocked out tonight  :-\

Great win on Saturday..pity we sacrificed the UEFA Cup though. Beating Chelsea and Liverpool and running Man Ure to penalties in the Carling Cup Final shows we are a match for anyone, and Robbie's return has been instrumental in the upturn in fortunes.

Great to see Lennon extending his contract, hopefully the the likes of the debt ridden Liverpool and Man Ure will keeps their hands off.

King back in the England squad is good news also and at last Modric is beginning to show his true class

Cant wait for next season. ;D

PS A horse called King Ledley won at 4/1 at the Curragh yesterday. How did we miss that?

Although Wilson Palacios & Luka Modric are quality, my first comment still stands

Another good result yesterday, left it a bit edgy as the game wore on though. Wouldn't have imagined us being in the hunt for 7th after that awful start to the season, and still being hovering around the relegation places at Christmas, but it's been a fair turnaround. Difficult run-in though - United and Liverpool (away on last day) to come, with Everton away too. WBA should be a win, and Man City at home would appear winnable too. Might just miss out on 7th, though West Ham's run-in isn't too simple, indeed Fulham could sneak it yet. And it seems that would suit Harry just fine.

And was anyone sorry to see Berbatov's woeful effort at a penalty saved yesterday? At least he avoided doing that when it was needed last season. That £30m doesn't seem to be bad business now.
