I was at an EU Research convention the other day and I was talking to a dehydration specialist and he had some interesting things to say, one which I found surprising. He said that the best thing you can drink to rehydrate yourself after a game is skimmed milk. He says your body will absorb it a lot better and quicker than any of the isotonic drinks that are out there on the market. Am waiting on Lucozade milk to hit the shelves .)

i find the best re-hydration solution is to get some robinsons diluten juice, preferably the barley stuff, add to an equal amount of water and add a pinch of salt!!

I find a litre of water with a sachet of Dioralyte is the business.

i am going to the gym tonight so will give it a go and let you know, though i am assuming that you should not drink any water before during of after the session to really see the benefits?

St Pauls,  what are the good gyms to sign up for around Belfast? I am now working up in Belfast and was thinking about joining one.

his holiness nb

I drink a pint of skimmed milk every night, including when I return from training and find it very good for the old rehydration.

One pint will do nicely, whereas with water you may get thirsty soon after the first pint after training.

DD12, the gym i am with is actually in Holywood, and is £32 a month, which isn't to bad for full access to the gym and the classes the leisure centre runs, as well as access to the swimming pool and health suite in Bangor. i know a guy who is paying £52 a month to use the samr facilities in Esporta.

I honestly couldn't tell you any other prices or quality of gyms in belfast as i never checked but there are a few different outlets around the city so shop around as they say!

Cheers St Pauls, was thinking about LA fitness on Adelaide street as it would be nice & close and handy.  Think it works out at 35 bucks a month.  I heard that Biffy Tech students are able to get membership for £10.00 a month as they are entering the Sigerson or something the year!  Now thats value for money!!

I would try it but I live in Spain and the milk here is rotten. :(

Plus it would involve some sort of exercise:)

This is based on a study at Loughborough University where they compared it with water and powerade. It'll need a bit more research before it's conclusive though.
If you were any use you'd be playing.
