Portsmouth v Manchester United

Saturday 07 April 2007 17:15

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed Park Ji-Sung will be missing for at least a couple of weeks with a knee injury.

The South Korea midfielder missed Manchester United's Champions League trip to AS Roma on Wednesday after picking up a knock against Blackburn Rovers last weekend and has now been sent to see a specialist to get a precise diagnosis.

Park is one of a quartet of key men who will miss United's match with Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

Gary Neville (ankle), Nemanja Vidic (broken collarbone) and Mikael Silvestre (shoulder) are also absent, although Patrice Evra does return after a six-match absence with a knee injury.

On-loan Chelsea defender Glen Johnson (knee) is struggling to make Saturday's game as Pompey look to keep their Euro dream alive.

But Noe Pamarot is fit again after a thigh injury and will challenge Lauren for the right-back position.

Pedro Mendes is still out recovering from an ankle operation.

Manager Harry Redknapp may pick one from Lomana LuaLua, Svetoslav Todorov or Benjani Mwaruwari to partner Kanu up front or he could give the Nigerian a solo role in front of a five-man midfield.

Portsmouth (from): James, Lauren, Primus, Campbell, Stefanovic, O'Neil, Davis, Hughes, Kranjcar, Taylor, Kanu, Traore, LuaLua, Benjani, Pamarot, Todorov, Mvuemba, O'Brien, Ashdown.

Manchester United (from): Van der Sar, Kuszczak, O'Shea, Ferdinand, Brown, Heinze, Evra, Ronaldo, Fletcher, Scholes, Carrick, Giggs, Richardson, Eagles, Rooney, Smith, Solskjaer, Saha, Dong.

Park is no great loss and really glad to see Evra back.

So game on in a few minutes. Chelsea won today so the gap is now 3 points which hopefully should go back to 6 points after the match.
Predictions- I predict 0-3 to Utd.

Redgreenery

Rooney is up front on his own with Ronaldo and Richardson on either side of him. Fletcher Carrick and Scholes in midfield.

Rooney got fouled in the penalty area but no penalty, should have been though! >:(

Why because it was Rooney? It was never a penalty the defender got the ball first

Portsmouth are 1-0 up. Taylor scores after a deflection by Van Der Sar.

The Real Laoislad

Great goal..Andy Gray was blaming Van der Sar i'd blame the donkey Ferdinand he was so slow to react

I blame Fergie for the team selection and Richardson, well for being a complete waster

Half Time:
Portsmouth 1-0 Utd.
Utd are playing well enough its just that every shot they shoot seems to veer wide of the target. They are dominating and some bad defending by Richardson ment that Taylor could beat him to a deflection by Van Der Sar and get the goal. One thing is though that Utd's defence isnt great, some stupid things have happened there of which Van Der Sar had to save.
I'd still expect Utd to win it, they look like they'll score, they should be in the lead.

The Real Laoislad

You sure it wasn't Ferdinand he beat to the ball?

Square Ball

Richardson lost the ball to start the chain of events
