Manchester United have announced a 10-year contract with the German manufacturers Adidas to be the club's new kit sponsor for a record-breaking minimum £750m.

The agreement commences at the start of the 2015-16 season and ends Nike's 13-year relationship with United.

A club statement said: "Manchester United plc has reached a 10-year agreement with Adidas for a global technical sponsorship and dual-branded licensing deal for a minimum guarantee of £750 million, subject to certain adjustments, beginning with the 2015-2016 campaign. For the 2014-2015 season, Nike will continue in its role of technical sponsor and trademark licensee."

As reported in the Guardian in January, the contract dwarfs the £30m a-year terms agreed by Arsenal with Puma in that month

Real Madrid have a 8 deal worth £248m, Arsenal 5 year deal with Puma worth 170million, Liverpool 6 year deal with Warrior is £150m, Barcelona 10 year deal with Nike worth £27m a year , £270 overall. Manchester City has a 6 year deal with Nike worth £12m a year, £72m in total.

The new Utd deal dwarfs any of those.

Glazers are earning their corn now. Man U fans should be greateful to them for a change.

Why? Would the deal not have been possible only for the Glazers

Exactly. Nothing to be grateful to them for. They're still stealing a nice % of this cash every year.

Savage rumours about Robben talking to utd, I'll believe it when I see it!

rodney trotter

Doubt that will be happening he said he wanted to stay with Munich after the Brazil game.

Vidal deal should go through this week, talk of Di Maria too, but he will probaly end up at PSG.

beer baron

Di Maria can head off somewhere else, good player but we need other types of player a lot more than him.

rodney trotter

He is an upgrade on what Utd have on the wing but unlikely he will join a club without CL football. That isn't the case with Vidal. Van Gaal is bound to bring in some winger.

Incredibly the Adidas kit deal is worth  more than the valuation of every football club in the world outside the top 5!

beer baron

Di maria spent a lot of last year playing more centrally and looked a lot better player for it. Utd have shinji, mata and Rooney all vying for that kind of role.

rodney trotter

He is a known winger  , and Utd wouldn't be buying him to play central when they have those players for that position. Young , and Nani are likely  to be gone by September dealine so some Quality is needed in that area. It is needed anyways.

beer baron

Ah sure we'll see but i'd be quite gobsmacked if Utd have him come the end of the summer.
