Niall Morgan would be a serious contender!!!
"Well ! Well ! Well !  If it ain't the Smoker !!!"

Geaney a shoe in from Kerry - with Murphy a good shout -  but hard to see any others outside two finalists. When push came to shove the best players were in the teams that won the semis.

Only if Cluxton and Clarke are both dropped for the final and have nightmare games on the bench. Morgan third in line and he cant leap over the other two now. But yeah, he is a contender I suppose - but not a chance really.

Brendan Donaghy should get one.

Had a good year but the best he could do would be a nomination. How many nominations are there?

Brendan Donaghy should get one.

Easiest position in modern day Gaelic Football with the ultra defensive set up adopted by the majority of teams. Sweepers, Double Sweepers and 14 men behind the ball have all ensured that FB's are a protected species.

The perfect example of this was Ronan McNamee for Tyrone. Superb all year and dominated on the edge of the square but the minute he actually had to defend his position against runners in space he was made to look very poor.

The same system won Neil McGee a few Allstars as well and made him look like a superstar. It's like a having an extra layer of protection. If Harte had more faith in his full back line he wouldn't feel the need to play as many bodies back behind the ball.

Rossfan

All Ireland winners 7
Runners up 4
Kerry 2
2 between Tyrone Ros and a wild card ( Carlow or Feely of Kildare).
Davy's given us a dream to cling to
We're going to bring home the SAM

hard to see Cluxton  getting one , he has had feck all to do all year
but if Dublin win he probably will

I think the hammerings in the Quaterfinal have lessened the chances  any wild card except maybe at full back where none of the top 4 were outstanding probably a corner back will get it

Saved a one on one against Kildare, saved a penalty against Tyrone and his usual precision kick outs. Unless he has a meltdown in the final he will win one. Possibly even player of the year if the Dubs win the AI and he announces his retirement before the votes are cast.

i would say higgins, AOS, moran  & boyle are certs for mayo (parsons, harrison and jason doherty all possibilities as well)
geaney will get one for kerry
Tyrone will get one, hopefully colly cavanagh, but possibly harte or mccann instead

for dublin i would say pretty much all of their starting team is in with a shout of an all star with ocallaghan & james mccarthy nailed on, unless they leave out ocallaghan and just give him YPOTY
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look good either

Cluxton should be nowhere near retirement. He was immensely important on Sunday. The greatest ever goalkeeper and a sportsman of his generation

Hopefully the likes of Cluxton and Andy Moran will help put an end to the constant push for players to retire as soon as they approach 30. No need. Class and experience can't be over-rated.

Far from the cliche that claims the opposite, top level sport in general really is becoming an old man's* game.

*And old woman's.
