Did anyone see this programme this evening about the making of hurls and sliothars. excellant programme with a cameo appearance from a young Brian Cody.

AZOffaly

I saw it. The auld lad in Roscommon was class. I thin it was the 1985 final between Offaly and Galway that drew me into it :)

aye i seen it. Id love to know what glue he was using to hold the two pieces together. It seems to me that he wasted a lot of ash making the piece though. I also didn't realise that Dowlings have their own shop in Kilkenny and why is the rims of the ball dyed black?

Lecale2

When was this on? Any chance of a repeat? I called round to Dowlings a couple of years ago to collect some hurls. Only to be told that there hadn't been a hurl made in the city since the Village won the All Ireland (2 weeks earlier). A small workshop with a big reputation.

rte keep an archive of all their programmes as i watched an OB Sport recap of the world handball championships the other day
