Totally agree, let them at it but at the same time the outside world needs to see how backwards the OO is and what it stands for. With the aid of social media there is no better time to do this and the British will not want to be associated with this type of organisation.
The one thing that has to stop is the stupid bonfires that are lit to mark internment, the SDLP/Sinn Fein need to put an end to this as we cant take the high ground on that issue until it stops.

Unfortunately there is a braindead element in some urban areas of the 6 counties who think the best way to beat the OO is to copy them with bonfires, sticking flags on lampposts and ridiculous flute bands parading about.

I think the obvious response to the OO in relation to the civil service is to stop making 12 July a public holiday, taking politics out of the workplace.

Couldn't agree more. There are some of them in the 26 counties as well, mainly in Dublin.

And the 13th to give them a chance to get over their hangover.

Your pissup has to be sacrificed for Ireland, not on a par with Connolly and Pearse, but a contribution all the same.

The interesting bit here is that "Catholics" earn more the "Protestants", reflecting the fact that more of them are graduates etc.
If you were a "Protestant" graduate in the future, who hasn't fecked off to Scotland there will be lot of vacencies where the "Protestant" proportion is down in the workforce.

This story coming on the heels of the OO report isn't a coincidence, it looks more like an attempt to legitimise the OO concerns.

Its a non-story - there is nothing untoward going on here, the working population reflects the demography, as acknowledged in the article itself. However, its irresponsible and inflammatory, and will be seized upon by the usual 'pul' suspects.

As an aside - the tele is becoming even more one-sided in these times of peace. What a rag.

Whatever about the Bele Tele in general, this article is pretty straight up and its timing simply reflect statistics that released recently that I posted previously. Perhaps it is a non story, but there is some value in noting that the Protestant State for Protestant people is gone, despite some beating drums louder to give the impression that it is 1955.

The point is, the employment status of each community merely bears out the demography. There is no story here, and, differently to you it seems, I fail to see the value in running a non-story which feeds into the psyche of unionists that they are being hard done by.

Was always going to happen when gail walker took over as editor last year. If you ever had the misfortune to read any of her articles you could see where it was going to end up. Jim Allister with Gregory Campbell as proof reader would give a more balanced view.  I wouldn't even buy the rag anymore for the job pages.

One of their main "journalists" Rebecca Black who used to be with the Newsletter isn't much better.

Agree, a complete non-story sensationalised to let some people find controversy or offence.

The fact that they've made a story out of it at all, and the headline they've used.

These are very regular reports - I don't remember the results being news before. This is the actual report - you have to delve to pull out religious breakdown.

https://www.detini.gov.uk/articles/labour-force-survey

A headline which accurately represents the report would be 'labour force representative of ni population'. Instead they've deliberately given the impression of 'themmuns taking our jobs', and also have a footnote that on average Catholics are paid more. If no religious discrimination is evident, which it clearly isn't, then why bring religion into it at all??

We'll have to disagree on this. I see no claim of discrimination in the article, which refers to academic work. The newsworthiness comes from the demographic change which makes Catholics the larger element in the workforce for the first time, something that hasn't been true since the 17th century.

The Catholics being paid more reflects the job composition, with more Protestants in farming and the like and more Catholics in finance. There is a definite  issue here as the Protestants are either not educating themselves for the well paid jobs or are leaving to go to the mother country. They have enough of a chip on the shoulder without that as well. I'll bet you 5 guineas that Protestants in the 26 counties still earn slightly more than Catholics.
