I would write off Donegal yet on the basis of league form,  but just what an utter waste of some of the best  talent in the country right now,  to have them playing that way.

Lads, there's video evidence. It's there for all to see. Dublin player sticks his thumb into the eye of the Donegal player. Disgusting eye gouging.

Is Rory Gallagher up to managing donegal

I have my doubts. I think his ill discipline on the sideline is spreading to players and is reflected on the pitch. Their discipline was shocking in Kerry game. Donegal tackling has been poor up to tonights game. The likes of Rory Kavanagh, Anthony Thompson, Karl Lacey, Eamon McGee and Colm McFadden are on the scene a long time. Time to give some of minor team of 2014 more games. Bringing on young Micheal Carroll in 73rd was a waste of time

No. The Dublin player pushes the Donegal player in the face. In the course of that push, his hand travels across the Donegal player's face, and the thumb makes contact with the eye. But it's not a gouge. It's an accidental contact.

If you want to talk about actual gouging, this is what that looks like:

That's actual gouging in an All-Ireland Final that should have been dealt with, but wasn't. Tonight's stuff is nothing.

Look at the video on the last page again. He first tries to push him and when the Donegal player is clearly besting him he pokes his thumb into his eye. Just watch the video, it's there. You're right to point out that it seems to be a common tactic for Dublin players however.

Just after seeing. Pure deliberate.  Not even debatable.

Saw the video, his thumb didn't brush across the eye area. He applied pressure with his thumb on the Donegal man's eye - that's a gouge, and looked deliberate

Clearly wasn't an eye gouge. The complete non-reaction of the Donegal player tells you that. Anyone who has been actually eye gouged can tell you all about it.

In any event MCCarthy got booked for the incident. So end of story

It better not be.

No business having thumbs near an opponents eye like that let alone apply pressure. Hands should not have been on the face in first place.

Yep, hands on face = silly 2nd yellow card

But youre mistaken if you think he pictures showed pressure applied to eye. Just look at reaction of Donegal player. 100% clear there was no eye gouge

What picture u idiot. Sure there is a video up there a page back of him pushing his thumb into the guys eye

Westside

Third incident of eye gouging by a Dublin player?

Farrandeelin

Apologise for veering from the eye gouge accusations, but what was the score? I didn't see it.

He clearly exerted pressure with the thumb. reaction of Donegal player is neither here nor there. Surely you are not suggesting damage had to be done before it can be taken seriously.
Alan Quinlan missed a Lions Tour for fingers being where they had no business being for a second (and no damage done).
You can t have top players and top teams giving example like this. You can t have kids getting eyes damaged playing games.
