Scary to think James O'Donoghue would be on this list only for a few grains of salt that tipped things Kerry's way last August and September.

More like  ;D

Ah Jaysus, that s brilliant Bunker!!

Yes but that picture refers more to the 2004 and 2006 All-Ireland wins than 2014.

Is there a decent Kerry footballer who has never won an AI?

Doubt it. Jack Ferriter captain of the 94 minor AI champs was a decent plAyer and didn't make it according to my mates in Dingle.

i remember that lad destroyed a Galway team containing  Joyce, Donnellan, Clancy, Divilly and the Meehans in the final.

John Scan Cancannon was the best player on that Galway team which was saying something and he never won an All-Ireland either.

Murphy is only player to win an All-Star playing for Kerry and not win an All-Ireland. Karl O'Dwyer won an All-Star for Kildare. It seemed like ages that Gooch was also in this club but it was only for just under 2 years

from my own county Dermot Earley without question. a complete footballer.
Gerry O'Malley from the previous generation.
Tony McManus - slow as Christmas but boy could he play.

From those I can actually remember playing though (Along with some subs)

1 . Damien Sheridan (Longford)

2.  Sean Martin Lockhart(Derry)      Kenneth Mortimer (Mayo)
3.  Barry Owens (Fermanagh)          Seamus Quinn (Leitrim)
4 . Keith Higgins (Mayo)

5 . Tom Kelly (Laois)
6 . Glen Ryan (Kildare)                    Seamus Quinn ( Leitrim)
7 . Anthony Rainbow (Kildare)

8 . Eamon O'Hara (Sligo)       Kevin O' Brien (Wicklow)           Niall Buckley (Kildare)
9 . Dermot Earley  (Kildare)    John Newton(Roscommon)

10. Willie Joe Padden (Mayo)   James Horan (Mayo)
11. Val Daly (Galway)              Liam McHale (Mayo)
12. Paul Barden (Longford)      Derry Foley ( Tipperary)

13. Mattie Forde (Wexford)                     Brendan Devanny (Donegal)
14. Michael Meehan (Galway)
15. Declan Browne (Tipperarry)              Tony McManus (Roscommon)

Paddy Bradley and Benny Coulter are at least as good as any of those inside forwards. That's a good list mind you.

You could make half an argument about Coulter, but Paddy Bradley as good as Browne or Meehan? Seriously?

You should start a thread of the five luckiest men to have all ireland medals, I'll start:

Mickey Coleman - Tyrone

Aristo 60

Gary Coleman - Derry.

Someone see can they come up with a third Coleman.

I think we'd have the beginnings of a conspiracy theory if we can here folks.

That's not fair, Mickey's a great singer. Great idea for a thread though if not a tad cruel.

Luckiest man - Benny Tierney has gotta be up there. Bet his family never thought he would win an all Ireland for a sporting pursuit!
