It's great, isn't it?

RTE blowing the budget again on something being described as "historic" but really it's all a load of nonsense.

Mary McAleese has been over the meet her tons of times, what's different this time?

Talk about over the top coverage of what is a fairly standard thing.
Or is it the old Colonial attitude - aren't we great now that "The Queen"( the REAL Head of State)  is meeting our leader.
We were all breathlessly informed on various Newses this morning that there are Tricolours beside the Union Flag all over Windsor.
RTE and the News in general to be avoided for a few days.

Something that has never happened before is news and you can't really criticise news organisations for covering it.
If at first you don't succeed, then goto Plan B

Shamrock Shore

Fair enough Armaniac but RTE have sent over half the feckin station to cover it.

A 10 minute phone call between Inda and Cameron is of more significance than all this pomp and ceremony.

I hope Michael D has written a new poem for the occasion.

Cant wait for the gift grub sketch on this one.... ::)

Not surprised that RTE are indulging themselves in the whole thing ... oh isn't it great to be given a state visit by our former masters, how we've come along way from the savages that we once were and how we're such great friends with our fomer foes, we should be so grateful for the massive opportunity being bestowed on us by the queen to have such a great friendship with them.

Rule Brittania ...

It's the first ever State visit by an Irish President to the UK. Newsworthy I would say.

Queenie "Oh my god, who is this wee fella? Is there circus I town?"

Not just a Republican meeting the Queen but a member of a supposedly socialist party dining at an imperialist castle.
