What are Sinn Fein supporters views on McGuinness going to meet the queen of England?

Not just a Republican meeting the Queen but a member of a supposedly socialist party dining at an imperialist castle.

It really would be worth a thread if he used his position as President to push his party political agenda.

Protocol.

You can be pretty sure that neither party will be saying what they really think of each other.

You nordies have generated far more interest over the years. Is that what it was all about - getting attention?

OK - I'll bite. Evidence please - pay particular emphasis on 'you' which seems to imply the posters here from the 26 counties and please define 'free state' which was last officially recognised on 28th December 1937.

It's a state visit - who is "bending over backwards" for the queen? Do you think hostility is a better situation?

The irony is obviously lost on you.

If the free staters loved England as much as you think they do, they wouldn't be in a 'free state'. Would they?

Isn't Michael D Baggins the President of all Ireland? His predecessors were very frequent and very welcome visitors to the 6 counties who always earned admiration across the board. Is there any reason that Bilbo has now been in London more often than Belfast? or have I missed him? Overlooked him I should say.
Who's a bit of a moaning Michael tonight!

He has been in Belfast numerous times since he took office. He has also been in Derry.
