Something else from Ronaldo tonight, has to be one of the best individual displays at this level.

Great finishing from great passes. Kind of display Messi produces quotidien.

8) Going fishing are ya?

2nd goal was savage. That replay doesn't do it justice, timing of the run...touch on with the knee perfectly into his stride, quick look at the goal and then smashes it right in the bottom corner. Class

Yeah 2nd is the pick of them, touch with the knee was savage, never broke his stride.

In fairness, they had a perfectly good goal disallowed a few minutes before the offside goal.  Ukraine offered nothing; could easily have been  4 or 5 for France.

England looked desperately poor last night. First touch of all their players seemed to let them down at some stage. Passing poor, lost count of the number of times Gerard in particular gave the ball away in the first half. Cole looked sluggish also until substituted. Wouldn't be surprised if they dont make it past the group stages.
On Ronaldo he may be a great player but he still is a show pony

João Moutinho played 1st and 3rd through...not sure the 2nd. He's been surprisingly disappointing since moving to Monaco in the summer.

England. England win = domestic tranquility. England lose = several days of thunder. Losing to Germany in the last World Cup = Hurricane Katrina.

Oh Jesus.

Portuguese commentary on the hat trick last night is gas....

Hugo Almeida got the assist for the second goal.

I will be supporting Messi in this world cup and his team Argentina.

England are pure sh1te. The last couple of games, both in wembley, showed them up badly. They will be going to Brazil purely to make up the numbers. Looking forward to the usual collapse and media meltdown.

No, not really. In fairness to Ronaldo he is a brilliant goal-scorer and last night's performance should finally bury the myth that he doesn't produce it in big games. It's just that Messi, particularly of a couple of seasons ago, was producing that kind of display practically on a game-by-game basis; e.g. the 4 goals v Arsenal in the CL 2nd leg, the performance in the 5-0 defeat of Real in the Clasico. He was so good then it was ridiculous.

Anyway, I don't think the World Cup is going to be much good to be honest;

I think it will be brilliant and England will go out in the first round.
