With all the millions been poured into the city, it's a shame that the Bogside Artists can't get a few pounds to renovate the famous murals that bring so much tourism into the city every year. Apparently only the  SDLP voted in favour of giving them money last week, with the DUP & SF voting against it.
next stop, September 10, for number 4......

yeah can't understand that.
Given the tourist attraction that the murals and Free Derry corner is, i can't understand that decision.
there always nearly seems to be more tourists walking around the murals than the walls.

SDLP wanted to give the £200.000 the rest voted to give them £45.000 not bad

The Walls in Derry are one of the poorest marketed attractions in Ireland. I think they are the last fully closed set of walls surrounding a town in Europe. They also have a fascinating history which not only gives the visitor the history of our town, but also has connections for the rest of Europe.

The murals are the biggest attraction in the town without one shadow of a doubt, however the Walls should be just important if not more.

As far as I was aware, the Housing Executive was to give 20k, and the council the other 25k, which as far as I know, hasn't come through, and has been ongoing for 9 months.

12 world famous murals is worth a hell of a lot more than 45k, and when you consider that over £40 million is been spent on the UK City Of Culture, it beggars belief as to why certain councillors wont back the artists in their quest to have the murals renovated.

The bogside artists pulled their support from the UK city of Culture because they did not get a slice of the pie; nothing to do with their political stance.

SF & DUP never have any bother dishing out money, as long as it is one of their pet projects or they have some of their own receiving the money.
Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

The Wolfe Tones cater to the lowest common denominator. There is more culture in a yogurt.
Time to take a more chill-pill approach to life.
