Any advice on good gifts for a couple of friends who are moving house (one is a first-time owner)?  They seem to have all the bare necessities, so I could get them anything really!

I like the bbq idea.  Does anyone  know of a good bbq / good makes?  The only spec is that it's a gas one.  Would you get a good one for around £150-£200?

Forget gas, you'll not go far wrong with a Weber One Touch charcoal bbq. Youll prob get the 57cm for that dough.

Agreed with Tony. If yer gonna cook on a gas BBQ you may as well save your money and do your cooking on your electric hob as the food will taste the same.
It's the charcoal that makes a proper BBQ, nothing like a medium rare steak cooked with a charcoal BBQ.

Ya see that is pure horse shit! Sure, there's a taste to a nice charcoal BBQ - but to dismiss an outdoor gas grill as the same as cooking inside on an electric hob is nonsense. Not to mention - many smaller families will forgo firing up the grill if all they have is the charcoal option due to time constraints and cost efficiency. A well seasoned gas grill is a fantastic addition to any house, and is a life saver come the good weather. Comparing it to an electric hob is pretty far off the (gas) mark (6).

There'd be a pretty slim chance you'd turn your nose up at a nice rib-eye coming off my gas grill, ya ballox. I'd have the plate infront of you and it rested and all before your coals would even be starting to glow.

EDIT: Not to mention the ability to easily manipulate the heat settings across all four burners at one time is a pretty neat feature also.

Anyway, in all fairness - having owned both in the last few years I'd never be without the gas one again. I'd have it going 5 nights a week, it really is a great job.
