I'm a bit confused about the hullabaloo surrounding this. Is this not just a story about a minor celebrity presenter of a niche TV programme on BBC2 doing something that deservedly got him the sack?
That was never a square ball!!

I think he's a quintessentially English gobshite

"He also found supporters in David Cameron, the prime minister, who described him as a "huge talent" and Boris Johnson, mayor of London, who said: "I'm instinctively pro-Clarkson, basically because he is one of those guys who somehow fuels lefty indignation, whatever he does. I have an automatic presumption of innocence in his case."

Some of the comments of support Clarkson received from senior public figures are a complete disgrace. Not that it had much option and even if it should have been done a long time ago, this is a ballsy move by the BBC given the commercial considerations, which they've acknowledged. Regardless, it's absolutely the right thing to do. Assault a colleague and you should get the sack. End of.

Fixed that for Boris..

Ever wonder about the intellectual incompetence of some of these lads who are public schooled?

Or unless he really, really annoys you :)

Exactly. Get over it.

First they came for the Socialists, and I spoke out
Because I was a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I spoke out
Because I was a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Irish, and I spoke out
Because I was Irish.
Then they came for the blacks, and I spoke out
Even though I was not black.
Then they came for the Jews, and I spoke out
Even though I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Palestinians, and I spoke out
Even though I was not a Palestinian.
Then they came for Jeremy Clarkson, and I did not speak out
Because he is a smug, arrogant, racist, misogynist, bullying ****.

Wait, they came for you three times?

And Clarkson only once?

Spot on.

If Clarkson was a politician I'd probably have a restraining order by now. But he's not.

He's an imbecile, an idiot, a borderline bigot/racist, tory-loving climate-change ignorant petrol head gobshite.

He is also a comedian and a very good entertainer. He certainly deserves the sack plus all the ridicule in the world for assaulting the producer but he is a huge loss to the BBC no matter what way you look at it. The moderately humorous James May and the cringe-inducing Hammond won't last without him so it is probably the end of Top Gear altogether which is a bit of a pity.

Top gear had morphed into last of the summer wine a few series back, no loss now.

Dave can show all those reruns of both series now, the Da in law will love it, foggy and co, followed by Clarkson and co!

He's a bit more than a minor celebrity and Top Gear is far from Niche it is the BBC's most successful programme ever as well as the most exported programme they have!!

Having said that I'm not a fan and I'm definitely no fan of Clarkson so it's no massive concern to me. Other TV Stations will be falling over themselves to get them in but they'll have difficulty editorially when they have sponsors and a Commercial TV Station to deal with!!
