Paul McCartney's mother was a Mohan from Monaghan
Kate Bush's mother was a Daly from...Clare??Neil Morrissey (Men Behaving Badly), family from Cullyhanna
Elvis Costello's real name is Declan Patrick McManus so I'd suggest some Irish input there

My duaghter assures me yer wan who plays Becky in Coronation St is from Kerry??

Sir Michael O'Dwyer, governor of the Punjab at the time of the massacre at Amritsar was a Tipp man.

Pretty sure I read recently that she was from Waterford.

All 4 members of The Smiths came from Irish families. Morrisey's father was from Crumlin. Would need to look it up but pretty sure Johnny Marr's parents are from Kildare.
John Lydon from the Sex Pistols also came from an Irish family. I think his father may have come from Tuam.
There's a load of other english musicians/artists that have Irish heritage.

Morrissey once said that The Smiths were more Irish than U2!

Johnny Maher's folks hailed from Athy. He changed his name to Marr to avoid confusion with The Buzzcock's drummer John Maher.

I remember learning French in 4th year and someone started laughing at the phrase J'en ai marre (I am sick of it) saying that he was the guitarist in the Smiths.

Jason McAteer has tenous links with Newry.

and John Aldridge with Athlone, but I presume we all knew they have some sort of Irish connection seeing as they played for Ireland. Tony Cornetto excepted.

His Great Grandmother was Irish. When media questioned him about it being distant link to entitlement to play for the Republic Aldo said "Ah yeah but I was awful close to me great gran!" :D

I remember back in the 80s when Culture Club  became famous and it turned out that Boy George's father was from Tipperary and RTE and the papers were all over the fact until it was discovered that George was gay and he went back to being English.

I thought Martin Keown's mother was from Turloughmore in Galway.

Thought it was Keown's Grandfather?
From Merlin park are no???

Morrisey has a song called Irish blood, english heart so i don't know how Irish he considers himself to be

No no no. RTE and the papers were all over the fact that obviously gay singer Boy Georges father was Irish. It was when they found out that he was from Tipperary that they went quiet about it.
