A bomb has exploded near a bus stop in a Jewish neighbourhood of Jerusalem, injuring at least 30 people.

Police have described the explosion as a 'terrorist attack', but there has been no claim of responsibility.

Police said the explosion was caused by a bomb planted close to Jerusalem's main conference hall and central bus terminal.

It is the first such bombing in Jerusalem in seven years.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu postponed his departure to Russia after the incident.


Elsewhere, the Israeli city of Beersheva has been hit by two rickets fired from Gaza, leaving one man injured.

The first rocket struck the centre of Beersheva around dawn, slightly injuring one man, while the second, which was fired several hours later, landed harmlessly in an open area.

The army said seven mortars had also landed in Israel.

Hopefully no one is killed.

Gaza missile hits school bus in Israel

An anti-tank missile fired from the Gaza Strip struck a school bus in southern Israel today, wounding two people, including one child critically, Israeli officials said.

Israeli tanks quickly retaliated by opening fire across the border, killing a 50-year-old man and wounding seven other people, Palestinian medics said.

The sudden outbreak of violence illustrated the fragile situation along the Israel-Gaza border, where small bouts of violence can quickly escalate into heavy-scale warfare.

Israel's defence minister, Ehud Barak, ordered the army to respond quickly and said he held the Hamas militant group, which rules Gaza, responsible for the violence. There was no claim of responsibility for the attack.

Israeli medical services said the bus was nearly empty after dropping off school children and was carrying only the driver and a lone passenger at the time of the attack. Paramedics were trying to resuscitate a 16-year-old boy with a serious head wound at the scene. The driver was moderately wounded.

TV footage showed a yellow bus with its windows blown out and its rear end charred.

After a two-year lull, tensions have been rising between Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza over the past few weeks.

Palestinian officials reported tank fire towards Gaza shortly after the missile attack. The Israeli fire killed a 50-year-old man and wounded seven people, said Palestinian health official Adham Abu Salmiya.

Israel usually responds with tough reprisals to Palestinian attacks. It also launched an air strike on a Hamas training facility in northern Gaza.

The missile attack came hours after Israel carried out a series of air strikes against tunnels it said are used by militants to smuggle weapons under the Egyptian border and carry out attacks.

Meanwhile, Palestinians in a West Bank town said Israeli troops have rounded up 200 women as part of a search for the killer of five Israelis in a nearby settlement last month.

Kais Awwad, the mayor of Awarta, says the women were taken into custody in an overnight raid. He said troops fingerprinted them and took DNA samples from their mouths.

He says that as of Thursday morning, about 100 women remained in custody, along with about 50 village men arrested in earlier raids.

The Israeli military had no comment.

You only ever get the Israeli side of things.  Israel is running a Jim Crow system in Gaza and the West Bank, in case you haven't noticed.  It's totally divorced from Judaism. The good ol boys in the Deep south had plenty of excuses to justify Jim Crow. Your grandfather might have called civil rights workers anti white but it wouldn't have stood up any more than your antisemitism slur does.  You should go to Palestine some time and see what Israel does under the protective cover of the antisemitism slur.

Gaza, (Pal Telegraph) - According to medical sources in the Gaza Strip, Shifa Hospital, a number of Palestinians were either killed or wounded. The recent Israeli escalation claimed the lives of 11 Palestinians in 24 hours while more than 60 people were injured in the direct fresh Israeli attacks.

Today, Friday, 3 Palestinian civilians were killed including a women. Four others were injured as Israeli army attacked Khan Yonis city middle of Gaza Strip.The new round of Israeli violence against Palestinians started last week when it  killed more than 7 Palestinians. Naturally  Israeli attacks have drawn  Palestinian reactions.

A number of Palestinian civilians were killed yesterday. Mohammad Al Mahmoum, 22, Mos'ab Al Soufy, 17, and Khaled Ad-Dabary, 23, were killed when the Israeli air forces bombarded El Jaradat quarter in Rafah city southern Gaza.


Later another man aged 50, Mahmoud Al Manasra was killed, and 5 others injured, including a child, when the army openly fired more than 20 artillery shells into Al Shijojaya neighborhood, east of Gaza City.


The Israeli bombardments of Gaza's villages and towns continued were 5 Palestinians were wounded as Israeli army shelled the already damaged Gaza International Airport in Rafah.


Israeli air strikes continue to take place in central Gaza where several air raids targeted many homes eastern part of the city.
In the early hours of evening in southern Gaza, Israeli army launched a missile at a local ambulance resulting in limited damage of the vehicle and injuring a paramedic. According to Gaza health sources, another ambulance was hit  by the Israeli Air Force in Rafah, and that eight Palestinians, including children, were wounded in new raids.


Israeli air force continues to attack Gaza despite a ceasefire announced by Palestinian factions. A Palestinian child was wounded by an Israeli artillery shell that hit Al-Qarara area, east of Khan Youni central Gaza Strip.


Five Palestinian civilians including a journalist called Mohammad Al Madhoun, were injured as Israeli air force bombarded a Police station base west of Jabalia north of Gaza. Al Madhoun is seriously wounded due to the attack.


According to PNN news network, A Palestinian farmer was also wounded when the Israeli Air Force fired missiles into the Al Waha area, North West of Gaza city. Several Air Strikes also targeted areas east of Dir Al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, and Al Hawouz area in addition to the Al Rantissi Base, north of Gaza, causing excessive damage.


Yesterday, 5 Israelis were injured when a homemade shell hit their bus. No victims or damages have been reported since then.
Additionally, huge numbers of Palestinians are suffering from Truma especially the children due to heavy sounds of bombings. Families are remaining in their homes fearing further Israeli attacks soon.


Its worth remembering that Israelis  have thousands of bunkers to protect them from any possible wars. Yet, Palestinians have nothing that could provide protection.

I lived there, Puckoon. I saw Israelis doing things that were outlawed in the US 50 years ago.
You either believe in universal human rights or that they are a joke.   Israel is running an apartheid system in what is left of Palestine and hiding behind world sympathy for what happened to the Jews in the Shoah.  Zionism isn't Judaism. It's a brutal, racist ideology.
