Aye hoping for 5/6 months, hopefully it does get as cold as last year

Currently I only have the oil on from 0700-0800 in the mornings. This heats the house and radiators for the day. Now that it is getting colder though going to have to start putting it on in the evenings.

Over the last year, I bought 5 fills of oil for our 900L tank, 4500L per year.  I have a condensing boiler and I have zoned the house into three areas and the hot water, all controlled with a 4 zone programmer.  We have a three storey semi detached house (about 2000 sq ft) built in 1903 with no cavity walls so it is not very eco friendly.  It is a typical late Victorian house found in many parts of Belfast but only one of two in Omagh.
Too big a job to fit insulated panels?

Can you post up a bit more info on how your condensing boiler works, how much it costs - to buy, install etc...

What way is home heating oil taxed in the south as I can get diesel 10p per litre cheaper in the south but heating oil seems to be about 20p dearer.

Some people seem to have money to burn, literally. Would they not be better off installing alternative heating systems and adding some insulation, it would pay for itself in about 5 years going by the amounts TYP is spending.
I'm gonna show you as gently as I can how much you don't know.

I would say it is the outlay of money in one go that is stopping people upgrading.

My sister and her husband are getting some stove or something put in now to heat the house. Think its £1500/1600 to get it in but they reckon over the next year or two they will save it on the oil they were putting in. Dont know the figures but they went through a serious amount of oil last year.
