Alot of these current young Rossies are incredibly inconsistent flash back to the 2009 Minor championship when in Salthill they did everything but win v Mayo but in the replay a very similar performance to today (only scored 5pts cleaned out at MF) & then somehow they clocked up a big score Vs Kerry in Croke park a week later.

Anyways congrats to Galway best of luck v the Munster Champs.

First of all congrats to Galway. They were miles the better team today and should have won by much more.

Agreed. Well Done to Galway on a very impressive display & Good Luck to them for the rest of it.
Should be a good semi-final against whoever comes out of Munster.

Forde,Fahy & Doherty are the 3 survivors from the starting fifteen of the 2007 AI minor final win.
I don't think any of the other 12 starters were on the panel even in 2007.

Was Danny Cummins a sub on that 2007 AI winning team?

Cummins didn't make the 2007 minor squad for the championship. Was a slightly controversial omission at the time if I remember correctly.I think the 3 starters (Forde,Fahy & Doherty) plus Joe Joe Greaney who came on as a sub yesterday are the only 4 members of the squad who were on the 2007 minor squad.
The semi final against Cork/Kerry will be very tough. They have both had easy enough passages to the final and seem to be strong teams.Looking forward to it though.Should be a cracker regardless of who wins Munster

Amazing to think that Joe Joe Greaney came on as a sub for the seniors in championship draw with Sligo last year and isn't making the Under 21 team this year.
Mayo for Sam! Just don't ask me for a year

Our U21s didnt set the world alight in the Hastings na dlooking back at the miinors or 2008 there were many shortcomings.
I have low expectations I'm afraid. :(
They got further than I thought they would but their , and management , limitations were cruelly exposed on Saturday in the disgraceful empty venue of Salthill.
Tuam at 5pm Saturday evening and you,'d have got 7 or 8,000.
Don't think many of our Senior team will be worrying about these lads taking over.
Davy's given us a dream to cling to
We're going to bring home the SAM

The main players on our U21 team last year was Kevin Higgins,Donal Shine,O Hara & Garvey the replacements this year were simply not good enough. I still think likes of Scotty Oates,Niall Daly,Cathal Shine could be seniors in the years ahead & i suppose if you get 3/4 players out of these under aged teams your doing well.

The crowd was poor for a Connacht U21 final 2100 i think the PA read out? last year's final had 6000 i believe.

Is it true that Roscommon were not allowed warm up on the pitch and had to drive 15 mins to another pitch? they were not even allowed warm up on the salthill club pitches next door?
while galway were allowed do their warm up on the main pitch??

I couldn't tell you. First I've heard of it. Doesn't seem very likely but who knows.

From limited highlights on TG4 lastnight Galway looked very good, surprised how badly Roscommon fared. Thought they were better than that. Galway look a big strong team with plenty of pace onboard too. That wing forward Boyle has some turbo charge in him. Will put it up to the Munster champs.

Cutching at straws if its being used as an excuse for such a dismal performance.

Hard to tell from just two games I suppose but unusually for a Galway team they seem very strong defensively and in midfield. To only concede a combined 0-11 against Sligo and Roscommon is pretty good going. They have two big midfielders but they seem to be quite mobile as well rather than just being two big lumps who can't run. Both only out of minor though so how they would fare against someone like Cork's Aidan Walsh for example is another matter entirely. Seems to be plenty of pace amongst the forwards too. The two wing-forwards Boyle and Doherty are flying machines while Hehir, Cummins and Monahan are pretty quick as well. Boyle in particular ran like a scalded cat and he's a big fecker too. Fellas that size shouldn't be that quick. Alan Mulholland has them well drilled and has probably done his hopes of getting the senior job one day no harm at all.

Munster champs will be a big test for them though. I fancy whoever wins that semi will be favourites to win it out.

By the way the Roscommon goalie was some size of man. No wonder they couldn't get a penalty past him.
