A strong display in the final quarter earned Armagh a 13-point win over Fermanagh in the opening round of the Ulster Senior Championship this afternoon.

The sides were tied at 4-05 to 1-14 with 20 minutes left at Brewster Park in Enniskillen, following a second goal from Fermanagh's Declan McGarry (2-00).

However, the Orchard County side responded in brilliant fashion, finding the hosts' net on four occasions in the closing 19 minutes with Conor Corvan (2-01), Ger Enright (1-03) and Cathal Carville (1-02) raising green flags.

The result sees Armagh advance to meet Monaghan in a quarter-final tie on Sunday, 29 May.

All of the positive play in the opening stages came from the Ernesiders who led by 2-02 to 0-04 after 10 minutes.

Corner forward Sean Corrigan claimed both of Fermanagh's early goals, with the first arriving just 30 seconds into the game.

However, Armagh battled back strongly with Paul McCormack's 28th-minute goal helping the visitors take a 1-10 to 2-04 lead into the break.

Little separated the sides in the third quarter, with McGarry's first goal bringing his side level at 3-05 to 1-11.

Armagh broke in front before McGarry's second goal tied the contest once again.

However, a tiring Fermanagh outfit were unable to cope with Armagh's firepower in the closing minutes and Carville's goal put the seal on a well-merited away victory.

Munster Minor Semi-Finals results tonight.. Tipperary 2-12 Kerry 3-8; Cork 1-16 Clare 0-06.

Some result/performance by Tipp, they were 11 points down at one stage but came back to win by one.
Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Onlooker

It really was a night to remember in Thurles tonight.  Kerry got 2 of the softest goals that you could imagine and lead at half time by 3-6 to 0-5.  Neither team scored in the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half and Tipp outscored Kerry by 2-7 to 0-2 in the rest of the game.   There was a lot of added time to be played and Tipp led by 1 point until Kerry equalised in the 4th or 5th minute of added time.  Tipp to their everlasting credit went straight down the field and team captain Liam McGrath scored the winning point.  There was still nearly a minute played after that but Tipp held out until the final whistle came with 36 minutes and 10 seconds played in the second half (according to the scoreboard clock).  This was the best performance, bar none, that I have ever seen from a Tipperary team.  What a night to be a Tipperary football supporter.
