Bobby Sands was elected 32 years ago on this day with 30,493 votes as MP for Fermanagh/South Tyrone. That was about 10,000 votes more than Margaret Thatcher got in Finchley.

Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

Having a party for someone dying strikes me as being like having a party for beating the Kilkenny footballers.

The difference of course being that that Kilkenny footballers weren't/aren't inhumane war criminals.

A lot of people were there remembering those who suffered at her hand, i think Patsy O Hares mum was at free Derry corner last night and expressing the joy that at long last Thacher is were she belongs, may the fires of hell burn long and hot on her. I called to the chapel last night for a few prayers then I had a few beers for those people and will be going out next wednesday to do the same.

There's a certain irony in the above post.

Read something earlier that Harold Wilson closed 93 pits compared to 20 under Mags.

Primetime last night wheeled out Gerry Collins former FF minister ("The Republican Party!!") and  Ronan Fanning (UCD) to eulogise the bitch and to excuse her policies in the north. I wonder if men like that had seen their close neighbours murdered as a direct result of Thatcher's policies, would they be spouting the same horseshit.

I was thinking that too. She put enough out of work and created the welfare culture in her drive to get people off the dole.

I didn't see it because I was in the pub  ;D but a mate of mine texted after watching it and he was raging. Gerry Collins is a joke anyway. Hope he didn't start crying!
