Has anybody on here ever bet with an Online Bookie that will not give you your first withdrawal until you have faxed them a photocopy of your identity to confirm that you were the same person who placed the bet. I am a bit skeptical on this request but it seems to be a credible company, anybody out there that can enlighten me on this i would be gratful

thanks. :-\

I have accounts with 4 big firms and it's not something I have encountered before. Must be a new security measure.

I had to do this with Betfair, scanned my passport and my bank card and faxed it to them.

Think they have a strict KYC (Know Your Customer) scheme going now to prevent fraud and what not.

you normally can't even open the account before going through the id verification with many

well done on the winner!!  ;)
DRIVE THAT BALL ON!!

It may well be a security measure but I'd say it's a ploy from them too as many people might not want to be bothered with the hassle if the withdrawl amount is small and just keep it in and gamble it away

Have a Betfair account, they won't allow me withdraw money from my Austrailian Wallet till I show proof of address, didn't need to when I opened account, have argued they allowed me bet without informing me that they wouldn't pay out unless I provided this proof, hitting my head against the wall with them...

What's the craic with Villa for top goal scorer? Half the odds?

Thought I read somewhere that the golden boot is decided by goals followed by assists which would give it to Mueller. Interesting to see what the bookies pay out on.

all this type of verification is pretty standard nowadays, i think if you're in the uk it's easier as they can verify you online themselves, if you're not it's more difficult.  They pretend it's in order to comply with money laundering regulations, in fact it's to prevent you having multiple accounts and thereby taking advantage of their free bet promotions or in exceptional cases, actually winning too much money from them.

Don't know about the other bookies but we were paying out on Forlan as Golden Boot the same way as if the bet was for the top goalscorer market... which I also thought was strange as I also read Thomas Meuller got the Golden Boot as he had 5 goals AND 3 assists.
