I know this has been mentioned on the Mayo Club Football thread but for the benefit of the greater community on here, James Nallen has announced his retirement from the inter-county scene.
The world legend is often bandied about lightly around here sometimes but this is one man who certainly fits that description. A truely brilliant servant to Mayo over the past 16-17 years - his likes will hardly be seen again.

INDIANA

great servant- doesn't owe mayo anything. won';t see those length of careers again

RMDrive

Fine player. Always liked him.

James gave outstanding service over many years - owes them nothing.

Highlander3

Outstanding player, probably the best from that Mayo team, its a real shame he never got a All Ireland

An Gaeilgoir

Have watched him in a good few games over the years, always remomber a wet miserable Feb. night in Parnell park Connaght v Leinster. He broke his balls that night with effort while a lot of others were passengers. Sums up the man, a big loss to our county.

gallsman

Great servant to Mayo and a good footballer.

He's no legend though.

More deserving of a thread than Brian Roper though.

And Collie Holmes.

Can you define legend Gallsman? Just so we're sure.

Can you?

My idea of legend would include names such as Jack O'Shea, Pat Spillane, Sean O'Neill, Colm O'Rourke or Peter Canavan.

Would you honestly place James Nallen in that kind of company?

chipped the cartilage in my knee in the All Ireland sevens in 2000 >:(

But he goes down in my book as a legend a true servant to the game and a prime example why money shouldn't be introduced into our game. If this lad can dedicate this much commitment for the love of the game then others should follow suit.
I never forget a face but in your case I will make an exception.

By that I presume you been he was twice an all-star. Significant difference between that and a dual all-star.
