While not wishing to condone in any way the sexual abuse or the mismanagement of same, it is nevertheless a fact of life that human beings ( from governments right down to individuals) always have and always will try to cover up faults and failings, therefore why confine witch hunts to the catholic church and its bishops. Its errors have been fully exposed and I'm sure that there will be no recurrence.

If you insist on keeping this going... Daly said he did nothing about priest Brendan Smith because he didn't understand such things... which sort of flies in the face of your assertion that he was an intelligent man. He understood to advise people to use the confidential line to give information on 'terrorists' but couldn't do so himself on those terrorising children.
