Depending on what work youre looking for, but the more people you know the better. Helps to be part of a GAA club as theres often plenty of links.

Its probably a decent time of year to be getting work down there, but if you havent got anything I'd recommend not being there in Jan/Feb.

Lots of backpackers travel down from Sydney in the New Year and almost impossible to get a job. Also prices for accommodation go up around the GP and Melbourne Open...
