When i turn on mt comp, wireless networks are connected. I have a vodafone modem thing but the spped is brutal. Is there any way I can piggy back on my neighbours' wireless?
I think it needs a password. It's BT.

Yeah it would be and its very important to make sure you secure your wireless network as much as possible.  I was in court a few months back and a guy was convicted of a serious offence because child porn was being downloaded across his network by a neighbour.  Not for one second suggesting you would do that but its a reason I would strongly advising neighbours against sharing wireless networks particularly unsecured networks

You have a wep key on your router. You set your home network so that your computer can only connect when the wep key is input.
Its probably a 16 digit number on the base of the router. Go to control panel then networks and make it password protected from there.

Put a password on it; it means everytime you are connecting you have to enter it - bit of an inconvience at the very least.  Anyone using an unsecured wireless connection are leaving themselves very vunerable.

The Password/wep key will be saved on computers linked to your network...ie home computer and laptop so theres no need to input it all the time. When i turn on my laptop i'm automatically connected because the computer is in my network.
