Dublin have to be underdogs really. Poor league campaign followed by an average performance against Meath and a good performance today against a rubbish outfit. Kildare have had 3 games and beating Laois impressively last night with big scores. They had a better league campaign than Dublin and didnt't capitulate as badly as Dublin did against Tyrone last year in the championship.
The smart money says Kildare but we'll turn up anyway and see if we can give them a run for their stud fees.

Poor league? Wasn't staying up and trying out a few players the goal?  Winning the league is pointless anyway
Anyway, long story short... is a phrase whose origins are complicated and rambling.

Donnellys Hollow

It's been too long since we've had a Kildare Dublin set to in high summer. Great Leinster Finals in '02 and '00 and several tussles throughout the nineties.

Really shaping up to be a cracking match. Dublin going for five in a row definitely have an edge in terms of big match experience in Croke Park. We might have the advantage when it comes to hunger though. Another Leinster at this stage for this Dublin team really won't mean an awful lot to them - it's September and Sam that they're focussing on. A Leinster title for this Kildare team would mean an awful lot given our form in the province since '05.

The head says we might fall short by a point or two but a lot can change in two weeks.
There's Seán Brady going in, what dya think Seán?

Will you relax for Christs sake. Who exactly did we find that never played championship football for Dublin before?

Alan Brogan overcarries every time with that high bounce.
Carlsberg don't do Gombeenocracies, but by jaysus if they did...

How did they have a better league campaign and how was their result against laois so impressive???

Bastick as a FB, Brennan as a CHB, McConnell as a midfielder and Flynn in HF. Not always about new talent - sometimes better utilisation of the current talent...

Kildare won more games in the league therefore league form more impressive...

Dublin would have to be string favourites though.

ONeill

Be very afraid Jackeens! On the opposing side is an Orangeman leading his troops into battle on the 12th of July. The Boyne rises in Carbury, Kildare.

Could be a great day for the brethren.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

Griffen as wing back, Magee back in the middle, Hubbard at corner back, Davoren at full forward (sadly injured)....

Yes but Kildare played in Div 2 and were playing weaker teams...

;D

We could bring King Billy Heffernan off the bench if the midfield battle is going against us!

Only beaten once against Armagh and we still had chances to sneak that game despite it being our worst 70 minutes of the year by a long distance. Desperately unlucky to be held to a draw against Cork and a good win against the uber-physical Monaghan in their own back yard. Definitely a good league campaign when compared to our efforts over the last few seasons.

I wouldn't say Cork, Armagh and Monaghan were weaker teams than Donegal and Westmeath in Division 1.

If you want to big Dublin up as you do every year DSFM- you can do it on your own because you won't be getting any help from me. ;D ;D Good grief do any of our fans ever bloody well learn that beating crap teams in Leinster is exactly the same thing we've done for 4 years now. The championship starts in August- then we will find out.

Indiana - Not bigging up Dublin at all...just don't see why people are saying Meath/Wmeath/Kildare etc are in with a serious chance of beating us....With regards to last year against Tyrone they had absolutely no form whatsoever coming into the Dublin game after being beaten by Down and being blessed to get past Westmeath etc...In the last 4 years we have just lost to Tyrone twice, Kerry and Mayo and the only one that was a bad beating was last year...so don't see why there is so much negativity when playing teams that aren't Kerry/Tyrone etc

INDIANA

You are bigging Dublin up. You do it every year without fail. I can't fathom why you do either. Every Dublin fan under the sun knew we would beat Westmeath. I said Westmeath would have to play the game of their life to win- so whats your point?
Kildare are considerably better than all the other leinster teams. The scorelines don't lie. If you want to underestimate them - go ahead. At the very least it should be a very competitive game.

Declan

Don't really mind about the result to be honest with you. Just hope it's a close competitive game

lynchbhoy

:D LOL Indiana - yer trying to out-dinny Dinny with your 'YOU should be favourites' response !
