Here's my report from that game - does anyone have the 2005 Underdogs series or at least the live match recorded on Video/DVD by any chance?

Senior Hurling Challenge

Kilkenny 2-15
TG4 Underdogs 0-13

By Cóilín Duffy

Two second half goals for Kilkenny from James 'Cha' Fitzpatrick and Richie Mullally firmly killed off a contest which the TG4 Underdogs always threatened to win at Nowlan Park, Kilkenny yesterday before an attendence of 2,000 people.

Kilkenny may have opened the scoring in this game after just a minute with a Richie Power free but the Underdogs were certainly hungry for scores during the early stages and held a 0-3 to 0-1 lead after six minutes thanks to points from Cork's Mark O'Connor (2) and local player Michael Grace.

The sides were level on six occasions during the opening half but the Underdogs were leading by 0-4 to 0-3 when the only real goal chance of the half fell Kilkenny's way in the 14th minute. It came after a good combined movement involving Richie Power and James 'Cha'Fitzpatrick which resulted in the chance but somehow the Underdogs managed to keep the Cats at bay.

Kilkenny led by 0-8 to 0-7 at the interval and extended this lead further thanks to an early second half score from Richie Power. Ten minutes into the half the Underdogs brought the game back to just the minimum margin but could have so easily gone in front, but for John Ryan having his goal chance blocked by Kilkenny goalkeeper PJ Ryan and the Underdogs had to be content with a point after their corner-forward thundered down on goal.

The Cats then went two points in front before Fitzpatrick shot home the first Kilkenny goal. There seemed no way back for the Dogs' at this stage as the home side went on the rampage shooting 2-3 in the closing nine minutes to see them capture the Waterford Crystal that was on offer for the winners following the game with Michael Kavanagh accepting the honours for the Cats.

It was an entertaining contest and Reality TV at its best. The realities of National League Hurling won't be long hitting Kilkenny's radar when they face Laois in a home tie at Nowlan Park on February 19th.

First cousin me thinks, well I am 99% certain they had an older cousin of that name who was a pretty decent under-age hurler! I think he may have played for the Shamrocks of Enniscorthy.

Did that sub Brian Foley of Limerick get a few runs with the Treaty as well?
