Three final points on this matter most of which have probably been made before by others.

1. Ricey was totally wrong BUT the referee + linesman both had clear sight of the incident... a yellow card there and then would have prevented all of this.

2. Croke Park made a pig's ear of it by giving the irregular punishment of six weeks as it only goaded Tyrone even more and led to the initial appeal and the subsequent increase in suspension. However, Tyrone were ill-advised to appeal this as there was no way they could defend their player's actions and it only helped to fan the fire of anti-Ricey/ Tyrone feeling throughout the game. Poor call from Tyrone.

3. Tyrone have done the right thing by dropping the DRA appeal as this would only have lengthened the embarrassment that Ricey has had to suffer because of his ill-judged actions.

Lessons for everyone here and hopefully when  Ricey returns it will be to concentrate on playing football and not acting the maggot. Most neutrals would say he had it coming to him, and after all, it's not a prison sentence, just an eight-week suspension, players can suffer far longer on the sideline with a torn hamstring.

Good post, Ricey has been wronged in some ways here, but he has acted well by dropping it in my eyes.

Yes, I agree with that bit in bold
Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something

You really think Ricey dropped this or indeed was driving it in the first place?! No way.
