Anyone know anything further on this?   I hope to God it was just a tragic accident but it seems sinister.

Four released in train death probe

Four people were released on bail by police investigating the suspicious death of a teenage boy who was struck by a train.

A 15-year-old boy and two men, aged 37 and 22, were arrested and questioned about the death of 14-year-old Ryan Quinn on a railway line near Portrush.

Another man was later arrested in connection with the incident but all four were released pending further inquiries.

Ryan, who was from Portrush but who had been living in nearby Coleraine, died after being hit by a train on Friday night amid reports he was being chased by a group of males shortly before the incident.

Police said he had been socialising at the nearby bar in the hours before his death when an altercation took place.

Officers want to speak to anyone who saw the row break out.

It is understood Ryan fled down a narrow pathway before somehow getting onto the tracks.

It is believed he phoned his father looking for help just moments before being hit by a passing train.

Train operator Translink is assisting the police with the investigation.

SDLP MLA, John Dallat, said the boy`s death was "a tragedy almost beyond belief."

"I would encourage anyone who knows anything about the events leading up to the tragedy to get in touch with the police and tell them what they know," he said.

Nothing much to do with this case but how do you get trapped on a railway line? I've heard it often but anytime I look at a railway line, I think, "how do people get trapped there?"

A few bottles of Buckfast would do it.

Terrible.

What were two grown men chasing a young lad for?
Which one of you bitches wants to dance?

You'd need to be very very unlucky to get your foot stuck on a train track. I suspect something much worse

Have to say I've never heard of someone getting trapped on a railway line before but some of the lines down round Portrush would be up against a big embankment which would be difficult to climb.  Maybe he couldn't get up on the side where he came down from either.  Haven't heard or read anything about this so I'm just speculating.

Shocking story.  Whatever the circumstances, to get a call from your child like that must be just unbearable.

You'd wanna be careful with the oul speculating round these parts:

I see there's a fair amount of gloating going on in certain Bebo sties based in the north west. I wonder if that might lead to more speculation...

Right, I don't want to get into how this wee lad died but surely you could get out of the road of it.

Yes, there is something odd about this. I think that is all I'm willing to say on the matter until some time has passed.

Donagh thats a bit crass given that a 14yr old boy has just died.  You might want to think about removing it.

Why? As Hardstation said, it has nothing to do with this case, more of a general reflection. In fact I was thinking more of a lad in Lurgan who fell asleep on the lines after a few bottles and had a train pass over the top of him. Luckily the only person who required medical attention was the train driver.
