Next Sat The Tyrone Association Dublin has their annual dinner dance in Clontarf castle.

We will have the Sam Maguire. Tommy Merrigan and Hogan cups.
Our chairman was asking me are we the 1st county to have all 3 cups at the one time?

Can anyone tell me what counties have done the double and when?

Kilkenny have done the treble this year. Has that ever been achived by anyone else ? I'm sure Kerry would have done the Senior and Minor double quite a few times, maybe even done the football treble. Any Kerryman to fill us in on that ?

Also Cork done the double in Senior football and hurling in 1890 and 1990. Tipperary have also done the Senior football and hurling double in 1895 and 1900. From what I remember the only other counties that have had a chance to do the double were Offaly in 1981 ( Kerry beat them in football final )  and Galway in 2001 ( hurlers were beaten by Tipperary ). Their may be others who reached both finals and if so I'm sure someone else can fill you in.

He wants to know has the Hogan cup been won in the same year as the Minor and senior.

I'm just looking for a list of who won senior and Minor football titles.

If any of ye know any red handers in Dublin that would be interested in attending this dinner dance or just joining up with us then point them to the website

Fuzzman, you mixed it up with the Andy Merrigan Cup which is presented to the All Ireland Club Champions.

I know this as we, Ballindery Shamrocks, held Andy for a glorious year in 2002.

Yeah I thought there was an Andy Merrigan cup somewhere.

So I did some research today and came up with the following roll of honours
I only went back to 1946 when the Thomas Hogan cup started.
The U-21s only started in 1964 as far as I can see.

Kerry are the only team to ever have done the minor, U-21 and senior Treble back in 1975 and this year Tyrone are the only county to have done the Schools Hogan cup, Minor and Senior treble alhough can anyone confirm are they any Armagh lads in that team?

Anyways Hopefully we'll have a 4th cup at the dinner dance next Saturday as the Cormac McAnallen cup might make an appearance also

Anyone wanting tickets can contact us via the www.tad.ie website

Fuzzman, 1958 Senior was won by Dublin and they did the double that year (minor won as well).

I don't know if you can fully reconcile schools with counties to be honest. Many, if not most, of the schools on that list would draw players from more than one county, notably the two most successful - St. Jarleths and St. Colmans. Even Dungannon's winning team from this year would have been boosted by a couple of additions from Armagh.

couldn't agree more there AFS, many of the mels teams in longford had players from westmeath, leitrim, roscommon, cavan. its no surprise that since the boarders have stopped coming in the college has only won one senior leinster title

Well spotted witnof
It was getting late when I was typing those in so I must have mixed up 58 with 59.

So am I right that only Kerry, Dublin and Tyrone have done the double then?
Maybe I'll go back further

Point taken lads about the schools maybe having lads from other counties.
I used to play for St Columbs in Derry.

Good list. I'd say Omagh CBS would be a Tyrone only school.

Yeah i made a few errors the 1st time I did it but I think i've got it right now.

Surprising how many times teams used to win in two or three years on the trot back years ago at minor level

Despite their internal problems Cork remains the only county who will ever for the foreseeable future be capable of winning both Sam & Liam.  Some achievement for a crowd of langers! ;)

I would say Galway are capable of winning both. After all they came close to doing the double only a few years ago. I would say it's unlikely though but Cork are definitely not the only county county capable of winning both in the same year.

Of all the dual counties they are the only two at the moment that could maybe they do it with a bit of luck although I don't see either doing it anytime soon.
