Most division 1 clubs in Down are recording stats on paper.  Speaking from experience its a nightmare job because you can't really get watching the game.

As a former/part time stato it sounds like a great tool but a bit on the expensive side.  £400 for the software, and at a guess another £200 for a PDA to run it on.

interestedingaa - What if the management want to look at something new for a game or two, can you configure it to add new items like crazy passes or over carrying the ball etc.

interestedingaa - Is the fact the report can be produced automatically the only advantage over a paper based system?

QuoteWhat if the management want to look at something new for a game or two, can you configure it to add new items like crazy passes...
There is a 'Possession Lost' option that breaks down the reasons why possession was lost, and 'Bad Pass' is one of those options.

Quoteor over carrying the ball...
At the minute you can record who gives a foul away...but not the reason.  I have found out that the more you try to record during the game, the more time it takes....especially with frees as there are lots of frees taken quickly during the game.  This option could be added though.

I appreciate these questions as this is the only way to improve software.

How did you come up with the price? £400 Sterling seems quite a lot for something that has to be manually typed into a PDA.

Doohicky

Once people buy the software off you is it open for change, ie. where the club can add their own options etc through their own developers of is it completely closed bar hacking into the system?

I think it would be interesting to buy, but only if full admin rights come along with it to change to suit the clubs needs.

Edit: Also what kind of suport do you offer with the product? ie. Bugs and updates for people who couldn't do these things themselves.

By asking various clubs what they would expect to pay for such a system.  It is impossible to ask and please everyone, I have spoke to people who have said it is too expensive and others who have said I could sell it for more.

Quote..where the club can add their own options etc through their own developers
No, I hope you appreciate that I will not be releasing the source code.

QuoteAlso what kind of suport do you offer with the product? ie. Bugs and updates for people who couldn't do these things themselves
I offer FULL support.  Any changes needed will be implemented free of charge.  I have had managers come back to me wanting various things changed and I have only been glad to help.
Things that I have changed were:
- Better layout of half time stats screen.
- Extra options for 'Possession Lost' button
- Ability to edita stat if wrongly recorded.
etc..

when you make these changes are they made to the general release or only to that club's instance of the software?

what are the upgrades like and how often to anticipate updating the software - what version are you on now?

I think its a great idea - maybe somewhat limited by the PDA and one PDA at that but a great concept and definitely one that can work
I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight

Yes general release, no point in one club having different software than the rest.

Quotewhat are the upgrades like
Do you mean is it an installer or what?? or do you mean what new features are in the upgrades?

Quoteand how often to anticipate updating the software
Not that often, if it is only a small change then you could hold off getting it it you were't that bothered about it.  I would contact you and say "This or that has changed" and if you want it then you get it.

Quotewhat version are you on now?
The software has progressed bit by bit over the past 3 years but to keep things simple I am only at version 1.0.4.

interestedingaa, thats looks like a good piece of kit there. congrats on it.
i lust looked at the FAQ section and it mentions a PC with windows XP is required. So is the software compatible with Vista? Or does it have to be XP?

Sorry I should change that on the website.  Yes it works on Vista also.  Contact me via website if you would like a demo for your club.  Thanks.
