From the Hoganstand - not the greatest source but should clear it up.
Quarter-final draw explained
17 July 2007

An open draw for the All-Ireland SFC quarter-finals will take place on the 29th July with the provincial champions set to meet the four third round qualifier winners.

In a change to the last two years, the pairings for the All-Ireland quarter-finals are not preordained along provincial lines. In 2005 and '06, beaten provincial finalists were kept on the same side of the draw as the county which won the provincial final, meaning that there was no need for a quarter-final draw to take place.

This year a draw will take place with the provincial champions (Sligo, Kerry, Dublin and Tyrone) in one bowl and third round qualifier winners (Galway or Meath, Cork or Louth, Laois or Derry, and Monaghan or Donegal) in the other.

The draw is open with only one exception; teams that met in provincial finals cannot play one another again at the quarter-final stage. If the four beaten provincial finalists all win their round three qualifiers, they will not be allowed to be drawn against the teams from their own province.

However, teams that met earlier than the provincial final can be drawn together again. Should Meath and Donegal win their qualifier games then repeats of their games with Dublin and Tyrone respectively are a possibility.

The semi-final games are already set out with the Connacht and Ulster champions on one side of the draw and Munster and Leinster winners in the other half. Thus if the four provincial finalists won their quarter-final games, the semi-final pairings would Sligo v Tyrone and Kerry v Dublin

Looks like we have been shafted for the Dubs.....
The Nicky Rackars cup will really get the Dubs out of the Dubs early.

Dubs get stand alone fixture
17 July 2007

Having originally been fixed to play their All-Ireland quarter-final on the same day as Kerry, Dublin will now have a stand alone fixture on Saturday, August 11th, with the Nicky Rackard Cup final providing the curtain raiser.

The following day, Sunday, August 12th, will see Kerry play their last eight encounter while the All-Ireland SHC semi-final between the winners of Waterford/Cork and Clare/Limerick will precede it.

How exactly are you getting shafted?

Kerry will play in Croke Park on a Sunday.

The same happened last year as far as I can remember with Mayo/Laois being moved to the Sunday and Dublin/Westmeath on the Saturday.
