Game moved to Kiltoom at 7 this evening.  Heard as I was about to leave the house.  Must be to protect the pitch for the Galway Sligo game tomorrow

Well they are playing at the moment in the Hyde and 6 pts each. Never cease to wonder where these rumours start

Heard it from somebody who never misses a game - til this one. Now I'm stuck in the garden for the rest of the day!

Kildare 2-13 Ros 1-13. Maybe we will reverse this result in Kiltoon later this evening :D

Game was definitely on in Roscommon  ::)

Anyway pretty happy with Kildare's 1st half performance against the wind and I thought we should have been up by more. But those first 20 mins of the 2nd half with all the stop starting didn't suit Kildare at all, Roscommon were dominant at midfield and with about 10 to go Roscommon actually led by 2 but for once Kildare dug deep and got the goal. Our second half tactics were clueless, just kicking aimless long balls just because we had a strong wind behind us.

Anyway it was not greatest quality game but I'm sured the neutral enjoyed it, can't remember the last time we beat a Connacht team in the championship so happy with that. Johnny Doyle played below par but still scored well and I though Kevin O'Neill in the first half was the best player on the pitch but Roscommon pulled him away from the full back line in the second half and he looked uncomfortable but battled hard, all in all happy with the win and a if we get a home draw and Earley back we have every chance of progressing.....

Lyons and the much maligned Ken Donnolly played very well for us, would move Foley into the half-back line and drop one of Bolton or Rainbow, two very similar players...

The ref did ok and I don't think either side can complain, The Rossies were very gracious in defeat but very harsh towards John Maughan and it was sad to see Karol Mannion get such abuse in the end, I know he didn't play well but Kevin O'Neill his marker is a good player and no player sets out to play poorly....

Thought alot of the Kildare frees in first half were very harmless ???
Ros' played ok in second half but poor handling and simple mistakes lost it for us.
I thought we had it in the bag only for the Kildare goal wich came from a high bal into square contested by Kildare forward and Seánie McDermott (smallest man on pitch).
Best for Ros' were Seánie McD and David Keenan when he came on. I thought John Nolan did fairly well at centre back on kildares best forward.

Championship over again...........
Minors to look forward too ;)
take the opportunity of a lifetime in the lifetime of the opportunity

He must have been at a loose end :D

Agree Dinny no excuse for abusing manager or players. I am no supporter of Maughan but I am sure he tried his best - just did not happen for him and I really think he never got to know Ros football. As for Karol Mannion he is an honest footballer and a decent fellow. Has not been playing welll this year but absolutely no reason why anyone should shower abuse at him. Most of those that shower abuse never kicked a football, are not involved in their clubs and are the loudest in calling for the return of players who really let the county down.

As for the result probably best for us. We would go no further and most likely get a hammering from any decent team. I hope Maughan and his selectors step  down and we get someone in charge before the county championship starts. There are several players who currently are not interested in playing county football - maybe with a new manangement set up some of them might reconsider and also we might get a bit of spirit back in the side. Anyway good luck to Kildare in the next round.

Is that the young minor that came on, look nervous as hell but settled well and looks a decent prospect.

Quoteand speaking of class JD!

I thought he played below his high standards, I know he scored 1 -8 but he had some awful wides and looked quite rattled at times.
