With Freeman we are back to an Austion o'malley Situation  just when you have settled on the Idea hes not Intercounty Material . he scores a Goal like that on sunday which was a good a goal as you'd see all year, but then goes back to being crap for the rest of the gam , but it buys him more time.
Its time management made a call on him esp as a full forward .
Is it time to uleash the Beast of Danny '4 goal'  Kirby there ?

I think Freeman's problem is his lack of movement – he rarely makes a good run. Too often it's a half-arsed run or he's standing behind his man. Once he gets on the ball, he has the skill to do something with it so it should be possible to coach him into making decent runs.

McLoughlin was poor other than the goal, would it be worth giving him 4-6 weeks rest?

Alan Freeman is easily the most enigmatic player I've seen in a green and red jersey.  Okay, maybe Jinking Joe could  sulk and go off the boil from time to time. But I never saw Corcoran sitting on his arse, waving his arms and complaining to every one within an ass's oar of him when he got a dunt that knocked him over.
In fairness to Freeman, he seems to have left tat stage of his development behind him but for a big, hefty lump of a lad, he is easily knocked off his game.
I thought when he scored his goal yesterday that he was going to reproduce the form he displayed against Down two seasons ago or against Sligo in his début in 2010  but he just drifted out of the game once more as he's done so many times before. The goal was a superb score and yet it was the last touch of genuine class he displayed before he was taken off.
I was more sad than mad when he was called to the line. I dunno what lies in store for him in time to come but one thing is certain; James Horan can't be totally blamed for Alan's regular dip in form.
Apart from that and the puke jerseys, I think Noel and Pateen have plenty to feel happy about.
I know it's still only winter etc. etc. But no mistake about it,  Kerry weren't there to make up numbers. I thought it was a hard-fought game but but Kerry were the dirtier of the two – no doubt about that.
At least, nobody was being humped around the field like what happened when we met the sheepstealers! ;D

So how does a guy that's easily knocked off his game get a ball out wide, bustle by tackles and score a goal like that? Seriously does not add up. A lad can t play at that level if they don t have an aggressive streak.

Jeez moy, you have me snookered here!
If you read my last post you'll see that I was asking that very question. ;D

While I'm at it, can you recall anything worthy of note that Alan Freeman did after that superb goal up until the time he was taken off? For my money, his form dipped dramatically and he couldn't really complain when Noel and Pateen took him off.
BTW,  I fully agree with what larry, ros and Mac D have to say on this subject.

I m afraid I have to agree. So what to do?

Does Kevin Mac need a break. Diarmuid O Connor looks good for a run. Will Douglas get a spin on the wing?

Being at the game I actually thought McL did well

Will management try and give runs to develop others for 10 and 12?
Kevin Mc and Doc the main men when fit. Then who? O Connor looks the part. Would Gallagher do better on the wing? Looked totally lost last day for some reason.

Adam looks like he has put on about 2 stone from last year . maybe hes in the middle of a weight program as he look leaded footed at times. Patience may be required

I thought he struggled until he hit that fantastic point.

Regarding Adam Gallagher I thought we played some very good kick passes from HB/midfield into the corners. I think both goals came from this tactic as did most of Conroy's points. This left the HF line more redundant than usual. Even Doherty, who I thought did very well, was out of it for periods which I put down to the above strategy.

Pace was never his strongest quality to begin with. I hope he can make the step up to senior because he looked a really great prospect at minor and even U21 I thought.

I was more thinking about his form for club in Autumn when he looked really good I thought.

Yea saw him in the semi-final and he looked excellent. He has a very similar kicking style to the brother.

The match yesterday was typical of the way things have gone with the top teams in Inter county football.

Both sides afraid to push too many men forward and looking to always contain the opposition and break instead and attack at pace on the counter. In Mayos case they were slower than Kerry to do it and as a result the 1/2 fw line is kinda redundant because Kerry had enough guys behind the ball when it arrived there.

So any time they did kick it in fro deep it was going straight into the FF line. Only time I remember a ball going to the 1/2 fw line from deep was when Higgins over hit the foot pass over Doherty's head.

Mayo wore that away jersey the last day.

But why did Kerry wear their away jersey playing at home?

Both teams in GAA are supposed to wear 2nd strip if there's a clash. Don't think it's done in any other sport...

Kerry have been wearing blue against Mayo for years, so would have been planning to wear blue for the game all along...not their fault that Mayo decided to wear the snazzy new jerseys, which was only revealed the week of the game.
