Galway 1-12 Down 0-8

Galway vastly improved today. In fairness if there wasn't a backlash today they may as well have thrown their hat at it. Gives themselves a chance to stay up anyway but need to win a couple more.

Nice win alright. A bit of pride .
Louth are up next I think.
And Armagh to come after that.

Good to see Galway (and Roscommon being so impressive), those last 2 games are very winnable for Galway.
Time to take a more chill-pill approach to life.

It would be noice to see Galway kick on and keep their Div 2 status, but on the day you just never know which Galway is going to turn up.

It was always likely that Galway would be fired up after last week's poor display, but the radio commentary suggested we missed two decent goal chances through Ryan Johnston and Donal O'Hare mid-way through the second half when there was only a point or two in it. Around the same time, we also won a free in our half near the 45, were judged to have taken it to a player who was too close to the kicker, the ref gave it the other way and then brought it forward to an umissable position for back chat. With their goal coming from our messed up 45 as well, it all sounds like a catalogue of errors.

We probably need to win our last three games to get promoted, which is pretty unlikely, although Donegal sounded as though they struggled to a draw today so all we can do is regroup for next Sunday.

"The Galway goal which turned the game was scored by Cummings, who is apparently a grandson of the late Down great Patsy O'Hagan"
That's right - Both his maternal grandparents were from Down, Patsy from Cabra and Kay from Banbridge
That awkward moment - Not sure if you do have free time or if you're just forgetting everything!

The game was littered with errors, mostly from Down, but we never deserved to get anything from the game anyway. It was a really poor performance, never got out of second gear and Galway deserved the win. Garvey was MOTM for Down, for Galway James Kavanagh tore our backs to shreds and Gary Sice was brilliant as well. Donegal will embarrass Down if we produce another performance like that next week.
