Absolutely. College football places a huge emphasis on tradition. Part of that tradition is that big names like Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State...

Having said all that, some traditions are not working keeping :o

True that. The Joe Paterno statue has been pulled down I think. It's sad really, that such a revered figure can have been so flawed as a man.

The general point, though - is anybody knocking on doors saying we're open for rock concerts, American football, monster trucks, Duffy's circus, etc?

Have you any reason to suspect they're not, apart from not getting an American football game played there slap-bang in the endgame of the All-Ireland championships?

The fact that the only events I can remember at the place since the Aviva opened are a rock concert or two. It's empty about 340 days of the year. I know there's a limited supply of suitable events, but it just feels under-utilised.

That and what I know from observation about how poorly the GAA markets itself.

Anecdotes. Understood

I only asked a question. What do you want, a tribunal?

Shamrock Shore

I am sure Croke Park would love to have it utilised 365 days a year but is there not some agreement with the local Sinn Fein cuman residents committee to limit the number of non GAA events a year.

I only asked for the context of the question, which I now have.
