I think you'd have to be fierce biased to NOT be able to admit Kerry are indeed a remarkable team that just keep re-inventing themselves every time a team comes up with a new ploy to beat them.

Yes they do get an easy run into the 1/4 finals nowadays but they have beaten most of the other big names recently to show they are not just lucky winners anymore

I'm amazed by their hunger to stay motivated and you do have to wonder why they seem to have a lot less injuries than Ulster teams.
Is it the training or the style of football in Munster that is a bit less cynical.

However, I think its a little naiive of Kerrymen NOT to admit that they would still love to beat Tyrone one more time before this Tyrone team totally changes.
Already we've lost PTG & SON and a few others from 2003 & 2005 but surely you must admit it was satisying to beat Armagh last year and so it would mean a lot to the players to beat Tyrone some time soon

Last year after the Kerry v Derry match, I was chatting to a Kerryman (slowly) in a pub in town.
He didn't notice my Tyrone jersey and assmed I was from Derry
So when I asked him "You must be happy enough with that performance"
He replied yeah that was easy enuf but I'd love to beat those Tyrone B*****DS as I can't stand them.

I laughed at pointed at my crest and then he back pedalled like man and bought me a pint.

Mayo are certainly lying low this year and will be interesting to see how they do in the NFL.

I honestly dont think they would care that much fuzzman. No doubt it would be nice for them.
Maybe if nothing else they would love to do it to put and end to the huge amount of noise still coming from Tyrone about what happened 3 years ago.

Indeed, are they getting into a pattern of surging at the AI every second year.
I'd say Kerry hope so  ;)

sure, they are like midgets...always floating around nipping at us. Cornering us at some pub or pitch and trying to get us to acknowledge them in some way. Its as if they need us to tell them that they are good before they will truly believe it themselves. Well, sorry lads but we feel is better for ye're mental health to not feed ye're delusions so please stop annoying us will ye.

Fuzzman

Yeah sorry you're right

It was the Dublin v Kerry match as I was with a Dub in the pub.
Were Derry in the minors though or why did he think I was from Derry?

Anyway, having 34/35 AI's it is kinda amazing that that defeat, especially in 2003 annoy ye so much but I suppose there's no other team that have beaten you consistly over the last few years.
;D ;D ;D ;D

I'd say ye might get yer chance this year though to put the record straight if ye join us in the long scenic route

I suppose we should take it as a compliment that Tyrone like to crow so much about those two matches. Personally the team I look forwarding to beating every year is Cork and I hope the langers don't deprive us of it this year. After that you just have to beat what you meet. The two defeats that I attended that give me the most displeasure were the AIF of 82 and being Darbyed and the 2001 AISF against Meath. But just like class Kerry football is permanent.

As for the scenic route - I doubt it.

Although there is, I must admit, a certain attraction to imagining Donaghy leaving the Tyrone No. 3 on his backside with a "Who's crying now" to the keeper? ;)

Unfortunately for Donaghy, he came up against Tyrone's number three in the Railway Cup final (or whatever it is). I saw a falling Star that day!
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

Aaron Boone

For a change, I think Kerry should first bring Sam home first to Castleisland this year. It's always that train toTralee.

I took your (now ex) County Chairman crying about wanting the rules changed after 2003 as downright bad sportsmanship, but in hindsight I suppose it was a compliment.

I think that ite time time to laud this Kerry team as what they are - terrific team.  In this, the most competitive era when even the once great Dubs cant get within a hounds gowl of a final; in an era when Armagh and Tyrone have threatened to dominate, this fabulous Kerry team has positioned itself as a 3 in a row team.  Lets make no bones about it: Who can stop them?  Forget about previous eras when they only had to beat one team to win an ai this team has had to beat many.  The thought must be consuming Kerry football at the moment that they're good enough for a 3 in a row; it looks like its their destiny this year; get those t shirts printed and the songs out.  This 3 in a row Kerry team is something special.  As good as won if you ask me and its the 2nd last day of January.  Discuss....

So you picked the year that you have no team to beat in Munster, to get started on this rant then?

timmykelleher

I'd just like to point out that Kerry were not undefeated in this 3 in a row!
