Who's slagging them?

Skellig Rangers would be far from the worst Junior team you've seen. They won the All Ireland Junior Club in 2009, and are currently operating as a Division 2 side in Kerry. This is just a bit of craic.

On a similar note, who do you reckon is the worst club in Ulster? There's always one team constantly rock bottom of the basement division. A team that can barely score never mind win a match. A team that you would probably laugh at but admire at the same time for putting in the effort and dedication of keeping the games alive. In Down it's probably Ballykinlar, though they'd have a bit of competition for the wooden spoon award - aughlisnafin, bright, magheralin etc.

I thought Aughlisnafin had been making good strides in recent seasons?

In Armagh it's Phelim Brady's by far.

Better by comparison ???. Have those from the ranch short memories

All I did was state a fact that Phelim Brady's are the worst side in Armagh by far. I do respect them however for fielding every year.

The debate wasn't about a few years ago, when thankfully, we still never finished at the bottom of the Armagh leagues.

I like to think that it is not the winning, but the taking part....

Until that is Poyntzpass O'Hanlons are playing Phelim Brady's

I've heard stories of men filling in to make up the numbers wearing jeans, boys training in work boots etc. Bound to be a few more of these tales.

One of our long retired selectors stood in for the 2nd half of a junior match in Ardagh. Weather atrocious, 13 men for the 1st half but the rule was you needed 14 to start the 2nd half. So our man courageously volunteered. He stood watching us for most of the half, with his arms folded and a jersey over his clothes contributing little more than the odd word of encouragement to the rest of us.

But then...near the end, a long ball came across the goal in his direction. The arms unfolded, the ears pricked up, the mouth opened slightly and a glint in the now wide open eyes appeared. Nostrils flared, one fist went up, the lips were licked and he hurled himself at the ball. He missed by about 3 metres, the ball went wide and he landed face down in one of those Mayo puddles that takes a month to wash out of you. I can only imagine what he said to the wife when he got home.

The rest of us were doubled up and hardly able to play out the last few minutes.

If all their players had stuck with them over the years rather than transferring to other clubs then O'Hanlon's would be no bad side. They still have some handy players as it is.
