I like the the announcer's comment at the start "best of luck to the Cavan players no matter who they play for".

Did he say that? That's great.

Mc Geeney's comments to Brian Carthy were very interesting.

Whatever about Mc Geeney's role in this transfer, he's standing by his man says Seanie has been punished for his absolute and total honesty in the whole thing and had he told lies he'd have got his transfer through a whole lot handier.

I was thinking, WTF is he on about ? Seanie being totally honest ?? FFS ! Does Mc Geeney actually believe what he's saying ?.

Not the first time he has made these comments.

I think what he is saying is that Johnston has maintained from day 1 that all he wants is to play inter-county football with Kildare. He initially wanted to transfer counties without even leaving Cavan Gaels. I think the honesty he is referring to is that Johnston never tried to make out that the transfer to Kevin's was anything other than a means to an end. Plenty of people don't agree with it and have perfectly valid reasons for doing so but we all know that other players have moved clubs in the past purely to make themselves eligible for another county team - Thomas Walsh, Billy Sheehan, Larry. I don't have any knowledge of how the CCCC works and how they process transfer requests but we are lead to believe that what was asked of Johnston was above and beyond what was asked of other players who had transferred in the past. That was the opinion of Marty McEvoy (member of GAA's management committee and Kildare's Central Council representative) at the last county board meeting: http://www.kildare-nationalist.ie/tabId/205/itemId/15378/The-night-of-the-long-discussion.aspx

It has been a sorry mess from the outset that has been very divisive in Kildare GAA circles. I don't agree with it myself but it's surely time to draw a line under it now.
There's Seán Brady going in, what dya think Seán?

That's because that was the carrot dangled in front of Kildare's various targets over last Winter. Come play for us, win a Leinster and beyond and you won't even have to leave your club.

Colm o rourke in the Sindo said SJ was badly advised throughout.
