Why did the Romans never invade here?
They heard the weather was even worse than England and wales and there was no gold so they couldnt be arsed for somewhere so far from rome.

You might have a point there.  There is a very well preserved roman remains in the Lake District.  I've been a few times and to have always thought to myself that to be either the boss man or the skivvy you must have seriously pissed off the heirarchy as it is one of the coldest, bleakest, wettest places...in summer, and it must have been a nightmare in winter.

My history teacher, a Ballinascreen man (?) of much repute (there has to have been one) always told us that the Romans were shit scared of the Celts/Gaels after seeing the Picts of Scotland, so that is why they never invaded us.
To find his equal an Irishman is forced to talk to God!

Hardly scared of us Celts (I use that in the common culture meaning, we were not a common race), they fought the Celts in Northern Italy, Iberia, the Gauls, the Britons, the Celtic tribes of Belgium & Iberia, the Celts incursions into Dalmatia, Illyria and Greece. They may have had a healthy military respect for us, but they did not have a fear for us. They had fought the might of Greece, the crazy Dacians, took on the Arab & Bedouin tribes, and fought mighty Carthage. Fought the Berbers & Libyans. Took on the Egyptians. Fought the famous naval Phoenicians. Fought the various ancient powers of the Middle East. Fought the Germanic tribes.

The guys they should never have messed with was the Parthian, they kept handing Rome its ass on a stick. Romans where too stupid to back down and kept getting handed it.
Time to take a more chill-pill approach to life.

They never faced the blanket defense though.
