Does anyone have more stories about him?  I thought the Eugene McGee article was brilliant but it left a person hungrier for more.

Last years county final program had a section on Mick which was a summary of his career. The other great source for history on Cavan footballers of a bygone age is in Fr Dan Gallogoly's book "Cavans Football History". Its as rare as hens teeth and I've seen them for sale online for €400!! but some folk about Cavan would have one of these stored away if you are lucky.

Hardstation is right - Tony, if you want to goad me start another thread and I'll be happy to come in there and play - lets leave this one alone.

All we need say is Ryan McMennamin ;)

I think we also have Dan Gallogly's book at home although I don't know If I'll be able to read it as he traumatised me when I was in St. Pats.

Ricey plays for Tyrone, Tony's an Armagh man. Can't imagine it would bother him.

Maybe Tommy was like the rest of us who are not Cavan natives, and while we grieve for the passing of a GAA legend, we do however recognise that he was born in America, with only tenuous Cavan links through his mother.

The late Mick Higgins was the GAA equivalent of John Aldridge

So Ryan isn't really a Tyroneman according to Tony's logic.

So endth the spat and hopefully we can celebrate the achievements of the man.

Can you imagine the DRA or whatever allowing him to referee the Battle of Ballinascreen?

I was in no way attempting to dishonour the memory of a legend, merely pointing out his birthplace, thats all.

Sure if most people think he was actually from Cavan that's alright. He was undoubtedly though the best footballer New York ever produced

Ha ha me as well...I've never seen a sudden hush descend over so many young fellas as there'd be when Dan would walk past. Pure fear. You could smell it.

Have that book at home as well alright.
