Mind you Christie should also remember that's its thanks to the aforesaid eejit that he's making a fortune these days.

To enjoy Christy these days you'd best check out the last album or two, laid back as has been said but some of his best stuff IMO. Don't go expecting live at the point a la '94.

If the crowd's respectful and the craic's good he'll reciprocate. He doesn't mind the requests just so long as they're not f**king shouted in the first 15 minutes. There's always one bollocks who'll spoil the craic.

He gets very involved in the songs he plays, especially the emotional ones, which is fair play as he puts his heart and soul into them and people wonder why he might get moody when some eejit shout "JOXER!!" after he's sung about women's being strip searched in Armagh jail.

The first time I've ever agreed with a Tyrone man!....................too true

The worst thing Christy ever did was sit down at his shows.  Always thought his show was far better when he was standing at the mic, thumping away at the guitar, foot stomping, giving it loads.  His shows seemed to have mellowed since he decided to sit down.

He's come a long way since he played the Baggot Inn on a weekly basis in the late 80's to a couple of hundred people.  Live at the Point worked wonders for him.

Enough of this 'respect Christy' shite at his shows, Christy should also remember to respect all of his audience who pay 30 to 40 quid in to see him.

Ah sure he is great have been at many a concert over the years and what odds if he is a bit grumpy now and again he is always worth the money. One of the best was the free one when he played in the rain in front of thousands at the 25th anniversary of the hunger strikes at Casement Park.Magic :(

You mean his impromptu concert at the 20th anniversary commemoration in 2001. That was his first public appearance since his "breakdown" and was only supposed to play two songs but ended up playing for well over an hour with Bic and Frances Black. It poured down incessantly for at least five hours that day and most missed Christy as they went home after getting drenched on the terraces. Those left on the terraces then crammed into the stand to be treated to superb intimate session of song and storytelling.

The 25th anniversary was a different kettle of fish altogether - one of the hottest days of the year, tens of thousand on the terraces, oul ones dropping with heat stroke left, right and centre.

He is a great to see live, have been to a few of his concerts.

Took the hump with him at the point after a serious amount of preaching, this was a man giving out about charity etc and not paying any tax! Have to say it pissed me off alot and has taken me a while to get over that pontificating.

Black is the colour - is my favorite song by Chrsty . The wifes hair is brown . She loves it when I sing it with a few gargles down .

He does a fair rendition of 'a pair of brown eyes'

Deccie is a miserable hoor though.

A good guitarist but more chips on the shoulder than the M50.

Was never a Christy fan but saw him last year in Whelans and was impressed.

Whatever you do order your drinks before he comes on stage, once he comes on stage the bar closes. He stopped drinking and now shuts the bar when he is on stage so no one else can have one either. Saw him at Lisdoonvarna in the RDS. There was a que of about 500 people at the bar for the act prior to Christy to get their pints in, but Christy came on with about 200 still in the que after well over an hour and the bar shut. On the music front his is brilliant.
Time to take a more chill-pill approach to life.
