McIlroy is hot today on the greens, Sergio was the same on many occasions, he's got worse as the years go on and he thinks more about it.  My point was that at Rory's age, Sergio was no worse of a putter than Rory iirc.

Beiing doing a bit of Googling and I can't find any stats for putting in Sergio's early career. Memory tells me he's always had a problem but some folk out there are disputing this so I'm open to correction

I'd have a few quid on McIlroy.

What price was GMac last year?
I should have put that money on McIlroy!  >:(

Took McIlroy at 9/4 this morning - good price for the way he was playing i thought!!!

Don't get carried away yet boy's, we've seen numerous capitulations over the past while in major championships, McIlroy being responsible for a majority of them! Let's hope he has learned his lesson, would love to see him win it.

Come on Rory!

I'll rephrase then - Did I get value when backing McIlroy at 9/4 this morning?

Well think it is quite obvious you did yes considering he is about 4/7 now.

I was more commenting on the "I should have put the money on McIlroy" as if he has it in the bag when it is panning out just as the Masters did, there is still two rounds of golf to go anything can happen!

Point taken! If he still holds a similar lead by the end of the day surely he couldn't throw it away!  :-\

I hate to quote that p***k Montgomerie but I just hope he keeps attacking the golf course and not looking over his shoulder like the Sunday at the Masters! I've never seen someone hit their irons so well!
I intend to live forever. So far, so good.

If McIlroy carries on like this, there'll be a lot of people grateful that the cut falls at anyone within 10 shots of the leader AND the top 60

When are the two Irish lads teeing off?

NO NEED FOR THAT! Cheap dig! lol

Not to worry found it.
Harrington 1.24pm
Lowry 12.40

How many hours are they behind us?
When you think you're fucked you're only about 40% fucked.

It'll be the opposite, the top 60 plus ties must qualify but the 10 shot rule usually brings in more. I think 82 played the 4 rounds last year.

McIlroy to -11 and leading by 8. What was his best lead in the Masters?
He may have made 4 at one stage.  Did he not lead the british open by a few last july too?

What's the contrast?

At McIlroy's age, Sergio was doing the same, he's still got a fairly decent record in the game with 15 wins on tour as opposed to McIlroy's 2.

This is a very very long way from over lads, and whilst I wouldn't be backing Sergio, neither would I be backing McIlroy.

The contrast is that McIlroy is able to make the ten-footers, he's gotten a few on the third-quarter of his round. Sergio has never been able to do it.

Would agree with that.
McIlroy is very hot with the putter today but have seen him have many rounds where tee to green he was outstanding and his putting has let him down.

Groucho

I like to see the fairways more narrow, then everyone would have to play from the rough, not just me

Good grief. He's making the game look so easy. Hit the fairway, hit the green, one putt. If only! :D

Edit: in the drink. Hexed! In that spirit, I think Tipp are invincible
