McMahon would be a brutal appointment. He's a dose. Deets and Meenagh joint management team or Meenagh Nr 1 and Deets Nr 2 - two very experienced coaches with sound knowledge of Derry football and the players. Can't see RG being entertained at all. I think Tally did well in the circumstances, but still a gamble to continue with him. Personally think his GK choices and team performances earlier in the league and championship overshadowed the later impressive showings.

Interstellar

Who is bank rolling all these management changes? Presumably Mickey left with a tidy sum and Tally will have to be compensated for termination of contract. Then there is the new management to come in...Sounds like a lotta dosh sloshing around and money is no problem for the CB.

Is this a thing or am I being Naive? Surely you dont need "expenses" for hypothetical journeys you may have made in the future?

lol, it doesn't work the same as in the English premier league ie tally isn't now on gardening leave. A lot of people putting deets and meenagh together which looks great on paper but are they compatible as coaches? Do they know each other and get on? I don't think they've worked together so I'd say it's an unlikely combination for us. I think tony mcentee is a strong candidate. I would personally prefer a Derry man so I'd go for Deets if he was available with maybe mckaigue or muldoon as coach but that choice would be down to deets.

Strong word that its a Ciaran Meenagh return, as manager

There's no contract, but like work, anybody can tell u to leave in the morning, 90% of jobs there no packages to go with it.

Quote from: zapped on July 10, 2025, 01:47:21 PMDidn't see that news coming! Yet again I don't see any internal 'derry' candidates capable of taking the role. Gilligan and Muldoon the closest but even then I don't know if they've ever been in the lead role. Paddy Bradley or Johnny McBride, both unlikely. Same with Barry Dillon.

The Dungiven manager probably the closest thing we have but he's a few years away, hugely promising though
I keep hearing Bradley and Mc Bride as potentially viable candidates, what is this based on?
Winning Intermediate championship and I'm not sure who Johnny has managed.

Bradley managed Newbridge and didn't set the world on fire and got a very short stay in Clonoe (Open to correction) at the start of this year.

Surely we need more that that for a team that is considered 1 of the top 7/8 in country.

His last game in charge was the best game they played from Gallagher left. I'd be happy to see him back.

If it's Meenagh, I don't understand why get rid of Tally. Surely drop him into the backroom team, same with Gilligan. To me u need be going with someone higher profile if u getting rid of Tally in that fashion.

Perhaps the Co. Board made this suggestion and P.T wasn't on board!?

Who knows!!

Bit embarrassing to be downgraded to a coach from manager, can't imagine any county manager doing that.

Not really sure why people are shocked we got rid of Tally. He didn't win a game all season, and most of the performances were pretty awful. He actually didn't show anything that would suggest things would be better next season.

You've missed understood...

I meant P.T staying on as Manager and the the Co. Board telling him who is background team would be instead of selecting himself.

Real Talk

However is selected as Manager is is imperative that he picks his back-room team. Just to ensure that they're all the one page from day one.

They engaged their brains and analysed the season...?
